Captain Hefling: "Millbarge....where's the brain for the scram-jam 7000?"
Millbarge: "Procurement picked it up over an hour ago."
Cpt Hefling: "Well, was it fixed."
Millbarge: "Yeah...new voice scramblers and everything."
Cpt Hefling: "Oh...well then...what about that Red Chinese radio chatter?"
Millbarge: "It's done. Here you go.
Cpt Hefling: "Done? That was a static filled, triple scrambled, microwave transmission between two soldiers talking in Mandarin Chinese."
Millbarge: "Well, the Chinese were only using a simple polyphonetically grouped twenty-square digit key, transposed from boustrophedonic form, with multiple nulls. I broke it with this."
Cpt Hefling: "A Drogen's Decoder Wheel? They put these into cereal boxes for kids!"
Millbarge: "Yeah, I found it in a box of, uh . . . Lucky Charms."

I can't believe no one has pointed out that the claim is from BusinessInsider

So does Auburn. I got my private pilots license at AU through the school of Aviation management before I changed my major to transportation.

Engineering, Architecture, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy are the top ones.
My major/profession of Industrial Design is ranked in the top 3 nationally for graduate and top 5 nationally for undergrad. Pretty proud of that and actually leveraged those rankings in getting a couple raises.

Are you insinuating that a degree from Texas A&M is not literally fungible with a degree from the University of Chicago?

Why do people argue stuff like this?
It really is possible to read something on the Internet with which you disagree, ignore it, then go about your day.
Edit: this thread wasn't aimed at anyone in particular; I just threw it in at the end just bc.

Someone told me they used to require finance and accounting for their department, but so few people are prepared for actual finance work they'll take any degree if that person can prove they can learn on the job.
I feel like this is becoming the norm unless it's a very specialized undergraduate degree (engineering, accounting, nursing). I work in insurance and I would say I am very much a minority with a business degree. It's basically turned into "this is how we do things if you can learn it you can get a job." The "market" is over saturated with undergraduate degrees and this seems to be to a result of said job market. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing but I can't help but think that being open to different majors when hiring people straight out of college.

aTm has credentials but really needs to tighten up
a 70% acceptance rate, falling rankings, and strive for 70-80k students, the school has
Degree Mill written all over it in the future
Rice, Texas, & SMU have better academic ratings, and Baylor looks to pass aTm in academia soon

1. The 70% rate has mostly to do with all top 10% in Texas gets auto admitted in to A&M. So unless that stupid arse rule can change, then that rate will always be high.
2. It is disappointing to see A&M drop in some rankings. Leadership has pegged A&M as best value type a school, which is nice, but isn't everything.
3. #3 may be having an impact on #2. Most alum agree with you. 70k-80k is too many. 25k in the ENGR is ridiculous.

That kinda pisses me off. That is the one factor that is sinking our overall rankings. A&M is EVERYBODY'S safety school. What other tier 1 undergrad program will accept students with really shitty test scores, but a decent class ranking?
A&M should be exempt from the 10% rule, or at least make it top 3% or something. For the love of orangutan arse funk! Make people earn their spot at A&M. We had to.
