There literally was no late hit. Whether he was down or not. It was a clean play. Our LB jumped over Young and barely touched him, if at all.

I’m saying the flag for a late hit was a bullshite call, yet you all keep saying “but a late hit is not reviewable!”

I seen a replay log that play in slow motion later that night that shows the Texas player kind of running into Bryce and instead of putting his hand on him in a normal way to help make the tackle he runs in to him making a fist and hits him in the stomach while Bryce was exposed. You could make a case for it if you wanted. I wouldn’t flag it but he did have his fist clenched.

That’s about as close as the two sides will get to agreeing on this, I’ll take it.

What I’m getting at is it didn’t look vicious. In a bang bang situation though it could look that way. The biggest grip I had was them fixing that call after replay. The refs have got to talk that out and fix that before. It looks like they used replay to fix the call no matter if they did or not.

Wasn’t it on this very drive that while Bryce and Jayce was lined up in the shotgun a water bottle was thrown and hit Jayce and play had to be stopped to remove it. That play should have been 15 yards right there. Can’t be throwing shite on the field during the game and certainly can’t have players on the playing field about to snap the ball being hit with any object.

Yes, it was the play before I think.

This is not what you think it is. McElroy is so desperate to be seen as "not biased" that he basically takes an anti-Alabama stance 80% of the time.

Now that's funny right there. I don't care who you are. But I don't think we're laughing at the same thing here.

For the record here, the play makes me think there should be a rule change. Why should a QB who can't throw it over the LOS because the defense is blasting the shite out of him, be given an incompletion if his hand is moving forward or he just lofts it up while falling on top of someone, but a guy who is escaping the pass rush before getting hit and throws it short of the LOS get a penalty? That makes absolutely no freaking sense. Reward the defense for making it impossible for the QB to really throw the ball there. Give a sack.

He was not down. His body rolled over the UT player. Only left hand touched the ground.

Awesome! Late hit on Texas, 15 yards and a first down for Bama.

Remember, they called a personal foul and targeting at first. They reviewed the targeting call and determined that there was no targeting, but what about the late hit? They said nothing about the late hit!!

I am pretty sure you can't review a late hit and they never said they were reviewing the late hit, they said that they were only reviewing the targeting call.

I guess the late hit just magically went away.

Y’all arrogant bitches remember that on your way to the SEC. Youre days of running shite in the big12 are done. This is Alabama’s conference. If you think we run the big12 refs, wait until your pansy liberal arts asses get in this conference.

The ref said after the review that it was just miscommunication between the officials. Like I said in an earlier post though that part they have to work out and fix before the review and make an announcement. It doesn’t matter if they used the replay to review the roughing or not. It gives the appearance that they reviewed a play that was not reviewable. It was just bad officiating all the way around. They looked like Keystone Cops trying to officiate a football game.

Here is what happened. The call was a safety but with roughing and possible targeting. Clearly not targeting. You can argue that roughing was a bad call, and I'd agree. But it was called none the less. Since it was called there was no way under rule they could award UTx the points for the safety. Roughing negates the play no matter what. Since roughing is not a reviewable call, they actually bent the rules by waving it. The logic is sound. They ruled he wasn't down and therefore wasn't hit late. The rule is what is not logical. You should be able to review if the hit was late.
Nobody is saying they didn't blow the call, even the ref. Who after reviewing for targeting realized how bad they blew the call. So he bent the rules in favor of Texas, in an attempt to make up for the bad call.
Had they not blown the call, it would've been a safety.
Later, Bama would've then went for a winning td instead of a fg for the win. But since it was called and is not reviewable, under the current rules, the result should've been first and ten Bama from the 15 and a half yard line. It was the roughing call that tied the ref's hand. It meant that no matter what, intentional grounding, int, fumble, safety, etc... the play was not going to count unless they rule he wasn't down. So that is what they ruled because it was the best possible outcome for UTX since they messed up the call. But they had no right to wave the roughing penalty like they did under the current rules. In conclusion, they need to change the roughing rules.

If their QB doesn’t get hurt they absolutely would have won, bad calls, no calls , or anything else wasn’t as important as their QB getting hurt

Yeah, those 3 points they scored with him in the game really made that clear.

Why would anyone think that the Big 12 refs were in anyway trying to help Alabama win the game? Ridiculous.

Because they watch Big 12 football and know the natural ref bias. Keep up junior.
