ESPN has a listing of top 25 rankings that goes as far back as 2002. Checking out the AP Top 25 for those seasons, UGA played against 46 opponents that finished those seasons ranked top 25, USC played against 47. Of those ranked opponents, UGA played against 10 opponents that finished in the top 5, USC played 12. Of those, UGA played against 4 opponents that finished ranked #1 in the nation, USC played 6.....

Talking about UGA that since 2002 has played in 5 SECCGs, which is an extra 14th game of the season and typically versus an opponent that is at least contending for top-5 rankings if not for national titles. South Carolina in that same time span has only played in 1 SECCG....

This argument is getting ridiculous. It's luck of the draw and we go out of our way to play more quality OOC teams. I don't know how this turned from a Murray flame to 4 pages of schedule bitching.

I'm mad about losing to you 3 times in a row just as I would be mad about losing to Tennessee or Kentucky 3 years in a row. Its not excusable and I get tired of hearing about it. But we just don't care about you as much as losing to tech, Florida, or auburn in consecutive years. We understand we are your Super Bowl but life will return to normal sooner than later and we will kick the dog shite out of you every year.

It will be interesting certainly to see how 2014 will look: UGA will lose Murray and has serious concerns about who steps up in his spot at QB. They lost their TE and 3 starting OL, plus loseat least 10 of the 2-deep from this season (6 starters).

USC loses 4 seniors including QB Shaw but already has what many argue to be our best QB returning in Thompson. Will lose Clowney and perhaps Hampton as well but return around 80% of the roster which is mostly freshmen and sophomores. IMO, UGA has more questions about reloading it's roster for the next couple of seasons than USC does....

I must say, I've thoroughly enjoyed this thread. It reminds me of the good ole days of:

Arkies vs. Aubies
Moo Staters vs. Aubies

Good times.

I think it started when Dawg In Beaumont started talking about Andy Dick.....

Go back and look at the natural progression of the thread and I think you will find it fairly easy to figure-out how it turned this way.

Luck of the draw, yes, sort of. Except, and correct me if I am wrong, but was it not, until very recently, simply a mathematical rotation of certain cross-divisional opponents not designated permanent opponents?

Help me to understand, when did it become "luck of the draw?" Because on that day, the SEC screwed-up. On the day they took the math out of the equation and left it to human error or a lottery system is the day the SEC really fawked-up.

Better yet, and perhaps you can help all SC fans understand this, because you seem like a relatively reasonable person most of the time ... help SCAR fans understand how an away game, at LSU at night, was magically plucked from the air and sandwiched between our game against UGA at home and our game against UF on the road in October of last year? How did that work, how did that come about? Was that luck of the draw, really? And why did the schedules return to normal this year and this year we get MSU at home, which is what was supposed to have been schedule last season?

How does the SEC take one year, and totally rearrange everything, then magically return it to normal the next season ... regardless of the two new teams joining the league?

South Carolina fans never, not once, bitched about our schedules since expansion. That we also seemed to catch a western opponent when they were peaking ... well, we just figured that was the price to pay to get better. What didn't kill us would make us stronger. But then, in 2012, something happened that is still unexplained. And that is the one season where we bitched about our schedule.

As far as going-back and talking about schedules in the past, we never did that until last year when UGA fans started claiming they always played tougher schedules ... when, in fact, we knew that wasn't true. So for the past 18 months or so there has been this schedule debate - and it is what it is.

Again, with regard to this thread, you go back and look to see how this thread turned from fun to this schedule thing and who it was who brought-up the schedules ...

But one thing 2012 was not ... it was not luck of the draw. SCAR's schedule was anything but lucky.

I actually agree with you here. We have gotten way off track of the Murray bashing that was my intended purpose. I will get things going back in the right direction now...

The only bitching us Gamecocks do is about the 2012 schedule because that was something put together that year and randomly put us up against LSU which wasn't supposed to happen and took y'all out of a game with Bama which was scheduled.

You have to admit, any fanbase would bitch about this.

yes, all the way up until expansion in 2012. Before that, you could figure out what west team you were playing and where, for decades in advance. Our rotation went (I'll start in 02, for no real reason):

ole miss/bama
bama/lsu
lsu/ark
ark/msu
msu/ole miss
and then repeat

You can't "blame" UGA for any of our west schedules prior to 2012, because the rotation was set, as above.

This most recent season. The SEC has done a "bridge" schedule which is basically a "this isn't permanent, we're just trying to put the pieces of this jigsaw puzzle together any which frickin way we can". It's why for some reason we have to go back to AU and play them on the road in consecutive years.

CHSgc Aaron Murray to join elite company in 2013 I really enjoy how in conversations a/b UGA's imminent fourth consecutive loss to USC we always get a brief history of UGA's former importance to the college football world.

Very brief history, UGA was 1st in the SEC East this past season and USC was 3rd....and it was one of USCs best seasons ever...

That's easy to do when the SEC gifts you the schedule Georgia had last season.

Keep bragging about that meaningless division championship tho.

Not sure that anyone's bragging about it per se. It's not like we made rings commemorating it.

The only reason we have 12 SEC titles (more than every school not named Alabama or Tennessee) is due to an easy conference schedule every single year. Get with it, Peter!

Ive yet to see one USC poster refute, or even acknowledge, how y'all have been third in your own division in your best seasons in school history.
