Sutherland is starting?

I thought "London" (Jermaine Eluemunor is from England originally) was starting at RG and Cheek at LG.

Third thread down is titled "issues on both lines"

quote:

O-Line has given up a ton of sacks the past few practices.. D-Line - There are huge holes in the middle part of the line .

Agree. Also stated this in another thread ... I think these are the two weakest groups on the team.

This is why we will have a hard time winning the Pac crown and the teams in the playoffs. I thought our lines would be improved but looks like the same old same old. I can see us giving up big plays again vs A&M.

quote:

Pass protection seemed to be an issue Saturday at camp t. Seemed like pocket was collapsing quickly. I know we have two new tackles but we have some serious talent on the line. If o line is a weakness this year it is time to start looking more at the coaching.

What people forgot about Todd Graham when he kept job hopping is that he's actually a good coach. Arizona State will be ready for this one. Seems like a toss up to me and I'm not sure who wins.

The first team offensive line was the same one that came out in the scrimmage on Saturday with freshman Keaton Sutherland at left guard. Sutherland is looking very good so far for a freshman with his athleticism, length, and quick feet. It’s looking more and more Sutherland is going to start the season at Arizona State, especially with junior college transfer Jermaine Eluemunor now on the right side. The second team offensive line now includes true freshman Erik McCoy at center, redshirt freshman Koda Martin at left guard, Eluemunor at right guard, Ryan Linblade at right tackle, and J.J. Gustafson at left tackle.

It sounds like London didn't take the job the way the staff would have preferred. But if Sutherland is also beating out guys like Koda Martin, I think it's safe to say he isn't getting the job by default.

I want to say Stuckey was running with the 1st team but has been held out the last couple practices.

Good point. Speaking of Koda, I think he's the LT of the future. I love his potential.

I like ASU in this one. The aggies are still one year away imo.

For the first time in two decades we have quality depth on the DL and it will be a team strength this year.

ASU is weak at OT and WR. This is not a good match up for them.

First half will be close but Aggies pull away in the 3rd quarter.

Read that thread on the free forum of scout and sounds like chicken little leading the charge.

Right now the defense should be kicking the shite out of the respective offense. If not, you have a sorry arse defense.

We expect an Oregon fan knows a lot about good defense.

It takes time for offenses to gel and get their timing down, but if you can't pass protect, that isn't something that always gets markedly better. I doubt the ASU defense was dialing up crazy stunts and blitzes early in camp, so if the DL was getting good, consistent penetration, I think that's cause for real concern.

Asu's scheme is only blitz and stunts. They blitz from everywhere relentlessly. The only relevant thing I read in the scout thread was the scheme is a risk management nightmare.

Your guys will get some big hitter in the flats if they aren't careful.

I watch a game here and there and my gut says their ceiling is divisional champs because the scheme is a constraint. They will have games like last year against Ucla when an opposing qb is reading the defense no matter the talent on defense.

Will be interesting to see how our young QB handles the large amount of blitzes.

Well, if you're saying that ASU blitzes like crazy from the opening of camp, that might explain some of the problems. But the devils still don't have a half season to figure things out. They've got Myles Garrett in the first game of the season.
