A&M Fans: Do you really want to fire Elko?

Not a flame post nor here to shite talk.
Genuinely curious if the consensus is that A&M people want him gone.
I know this season is not going to plan, and the team hasn’t looked good so far. With that said, I actually really thought he was a good hire for y’all and thought he did a good coaching job last year.
I respected A&M going the route of hiring a lesser known HC commodity than throwing massive money at the big names like we did in BK.
It just seems sort of nuts to try and make a change at this early junction after he got you guys to the CFP last year.

I feel like it boils down a lot to injuries and a poor evaluation/development of Marcel Reed.
He looked great when he first came in the game against LSU in 2024, but once teams got more tape on him he never really made any improvement. I will say I’ve been surprised at how weak this A&M defense is compared to previous years.

No idea. That decision will be made by the billionaires that fund the program. I know that his refusal to make changes is losing the fanbase very quickly. It truly makes no sense …

losing both coordinators doesn't help
he stayed in house
maybe Elko should have looked outside the staff
I do think Elko is a good fit for Aggies
you lose as much as they did on both lines and it's tough replacing those guys

I don't think it is time to get rid of Elko yet. Ask me again at the end of the season.

Elko is going to have to take over defense again. He cannot hire a DC worth a crap. As for the offense - Reed has lost every bit of confidence. He gets the snap and starts backpedaling or just turns around and runs backward.

I don’t. It’s honestly absurd the amount of people that want to fire coaches at the first sign of trouble. Elko has shown signs of being a good coach. As an A&M fan, I’m not expecting a dynasty. Give me 8-10 win seasons and eventually one could pop and we win it all. Just one in my lifetime would be awesome.

I haven't given any attention to it this year, but does Reed still have his feet even at pre-snap for handoffs and staggered a little for passing?

Elko is a solid coach but he made some mistakes this offseason that he needs to correct going forward.
Elko bet on Reed, but Reed ain't it, but unfortunately he's all we have for this year. Hope the OC can figure a way to scheme around Reeds limitations.
Elko also bet on 2 inexperienced new coordinators from within the program after losing last years OC and DC. They may improve with experience as the season goes on, they may not. If not, Elko needs to cut bait and bring in more experienced coordinators before next season.
We also lost a LOT of trench talent to the NFL last year. I think we have some solid pieces still, but lost a ton of talent and continuity on the lines. Thats just tough for anyone to replace seamlessly, even in the portal era.
I predict 7-8 wins this year, followed by new OC and DC hires, and an active portal recruiting season to follow, hopefully including a quality QB.

I highly doubt they do. Will probably force him to fire a whole boat load of his assistants tho. Would be a choice to fire a guy 1 year removed from a playoff run.

No, not that I have amy say in it. He was who I wanted when they fired Jimbo, followed by Matt Campbell. I think he's a good fit and can do good things here, if he begins to put people on a tighter leash and take action sooner.

Doesn't make sense to fire him this year, with his buyout.
He'll get at least two more years. You can't fire a coach over one bad season.

They need to give him more time.
But it would be very Aggie to float yet another coach off into an extremely lucrative buyout and retirement.
