A single season and the country is ready to declare the SEC dominance "dead"

Seems foolish to me, honestly, to declare anything "dead" after a single season.
Was LSU baseball "dead" after 2006-07? No.
Was Alabama football "dead" after 2013? No.
Was Kentucky basketball "dead" after 2012-13? No.
I mean, was the SEC "dead" after 2013? It was the first year that an SEC team had failed to win the national title since 2005 - but no, it was not.
Now, I'll agree that I don't foresee ANY conference being as dominant as the SEC used to be, not in the era of NIL and no-wait transfers. Talent will move around WAY too much for any collection of teams to consolidate and train up talent to do what the SEC used to.
But "dead"? Seriously, some folks need to get a grip.
If anything, you're just more likely to see wilder fluctuations in winners and records than a true death knell of the conference.

Two seasons, dumb arse. Michigan won last year.

Look at who is saying it. Is anything Meyer says worth getting upset about? He probably thinks none of the current SEC squads have enough criminals on them to be contenders.

TLDR.... conclusion, bama is done.

It will be if something isn’t done about how these playoff teams get picked. I can’t help but think that it was on purpose that these Big10 teams with extremely weak schedules got picked over the SEC teams with tougher schedule.
Yes we all laughed at Bama’s expense. However it’s not good for the conference as a whole that the strength of schedule didn’t matter for the SEC teams despite having just one more loss

Really weird that the "SEC is dead" when an SEC team is going to win the National Championship.

Modern media has the inability to process anything in perspective.
There's tremendous recency bias. Everything that just happened is the biggest most important thing ever.
The SEC can totally dominate football for 20 years and then have 1 "meh" year and it's apparently all over.

Okay... and the point still stands, as the SEC didn't win it in either 2013 nor 2014.

It’s hypocrisy:
SEC down year = SEC dead & not as good as they/others claim; they should have done better
SEC up/good year = people/media need to stop the SEC bias despite records contradicting

Pretty much. If Tua was 100%, 2019 LDU never happens

As it relates to football, I think a lot of SEC teams are struggling with how to manage roster, do you use high school recruiting or portal recruiting.
FSU proved you can nail the portal one year and absolutely blow it the next year.
It's harder to stockpile rosters when players can get paid and play immediately so the days of Bama having five stars sitting the bench are over.
They are not waiting for playing time.
As far as hoops goes, if a SEC team does not cut the nets down it will be a big disappointment.
SEC baseball is absolutely loaded and the Big Ten has no chance in that sport unless they move the season back to the summer months when weather cooperates.

All you have to do is look at recruiting rankings to see these people are just believing what they want to believe.
Nothing you can do with people who live in fantasy land.

Nick Saban retired and Kirby had a down season in the same calendar year.
Saban, especially, but also Kirby have been propping up the conference for 15 years and making things seem better than they were.
shite happens sometimes.

In 2024, bama was healthy and the 3rd best three loss team.
