Yes ticket prices are down. Attendance for the National Championship will probably be down. There may be a general malaise about watching Bama vs Clemson IV, so the TV audience may be down.

One cure for the CFP would be to announce the location of the Natty, after the semis are played. They could have three or four potential locations ready to host the game. The selected location would be something that makes sense for the two school's fanbase. Northern California....in the winter......for two southeastern teams.....makes zero sense for anyone.

As far as watching Bama and Clemson play the title for the third time (fourth counting the semi game last year), you really can't ask for better football. If people are tired of it, beat one, or both of those teams.

Just put it in Atlanta every year. No bowl affiliation. Just the NC game. Let the other bowl games play out normally.

There is no general malaise. There just aren't many Clemson or Bama fans within 2,000 miles of the site.

This is so fricking asinine and you obviously have no clue how any of this works. Do you realize how many millions of dollars it would cost to have FOUR potential locations "ready to host the game" with a week turn around time?

They would never do that, and the cities would never allow it.

Boring.

I know gumps get confused about this at times, but the fans don't actually play or coach college football.

Yeah. That's a really bad idea.

Really? Then how does the NFL manage it? They don't know where a lot of the playoff games will be played until the last Sunday of the season. You're right in that I don't know how much the cost would be. But I would venture a guess that a lot of cities like Atlanta, New Orleans, Charlotte, Nashville, etc., would be willing to position themselves to host that game.

We did...last year...pretty handily...playoff committee gave them yet another mulligan...despite not winning their conference or even division for that matter

Make the higher seed the home team and have the game on campus, with a higher allotment of tickets to the visiting team, then have one spot for the national championship game.

Having a playoff is definitely the best way to determine a true champion each season but it is damaging what made college football so unique and popular.
It is already screwing up the bowl season and it may start taking a little away from the regular season if it expands too much.

That's the direction it is heading though

I love college football. On a week to week basis there’s nothing better. But as far as the playoff it has basically turned into the NBA. There’s 2-4 teams with a legitimate chance to win it all.

That is the direction though. I think some in marketing hope to get to some type of march madness enthusiasm. Personally, I think the NFL is hurting the bowls more than anything. But it is a complex issue.

And let's be honest, some of the bowls are just complete shite.

It was a dumbass decision to allow this game to be hosted in the Bay Area...

Look, as a Bama fan, even I am a little tired of seeing half of this NC game match up. That, plus it's a stupid location and both of these fan bases have been hemorrhaging money in the post season for years.

Why not in Dallas? SEC is favor in Atlanta but Dallas not so.
