This is about the only way to keep players from opting out of bowls. There would be 15 playoff/bowl games, (more than) ANY team with the slightest of chances to win would participate, and the TV money from those games should far exceed what's being paid now....not to mention the revenue the cities hosting the games would earn!

You would effectively make the bowl games the NIT. And nobody watched that tournament

this is a societal/generational issue, you aren't going to fix that with more games. If you expand to 16 temas, the teams ranked 17th and worse will still have opt outs.

yeah, to hell with who actually DESERVES to be a national champion, that's irrelevant! Let's just do what makes the most money!

Why not make it 64? Where does this shite end?

Pandora's box is already open. High draft picks won't play in a majority of this shite. BCS should have stayed.

...because the NCAAs were going on, too. ALL the matchups would potentially bill "the next possible Nat'l Champ"

Who was the last player to opt-out of a playoff game?

No reason to make these teams play more games. It’s a college game in which most players don’t get paid a significant amount of funds for the risk taken. Especially if they have pro potential.

Nah where we are is plenty and probably too much. Networks are driving this push and it’s all about money to them. They can careless about the players.

I enjoy the controversy and it’s what makes college football special. I am read to bring back the BCS and dump the networks.

your whole entire premise is based on entertainment value rather than who actually deserves to be national champion. That's the problem.

I would be good with an 8 team of highest ranked in AP/Coaches polling. This would allow some teams hope, hot at end of year teams a chance to get in, and would probably provide the best final and quarter final games, as all the pretenders get knocked out early.

8 team is what I have wanted since the 80s and my coming of age of reasoning.

Really?...and it's not about money to the schools, coaches, AND players?

What in the hell do you think drives the ENTIRE process?

If they're quitting on their team because of injury potential, yeah, let's add even more games to keep them on board which ironically increases their injury potential.

Also, so after the 4th loss of the season, should players go ahead and sit the remaining regular season games out since they're "meaningless" - all that NIL money and the free ride they've been gifted from the school they're quitting on be damned?

Bama lost two potential first round wide receiver draft picks last season in "extra games" - one being yet another meaningless playoff blowout against a Cincinnati that didn't deserve to be on the field with Bama, much less a playoff berth. Then in the game that mattered, our offense sputtered without them and it cost us a NC. Could have been prevented...

Yeah, a 16 team playoff idea sounds great... until you lose two Heisman caliber players in the first and second round of a blowout against some scrub 9-3 team and proceed to get your arse handed to you in the big game that matters.

The playoffs start with a team's first game of the season.

Again, name me a player who's opted out of a playoff game.
There'll be players who, after numerous losses, will "quit" either physically or mentally, but the quality of their play AND their attitude(character) will be on trial!
By the way, those 2 players that Alabama had hurt in playoff games were drafted in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the draft, so there's that.

Isn't he hurt?

"The decision to turn pro was made after I was unable to come back on multiple occasions during the season and the doctors determined I would be unable to participate in the playoffs."
