re: 5 Fan Bases You Hate

You know, I used to "hate" (strongly dislike) many football teams, mainly in the mid-west. I REALLY didn't like Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Nebraska, etc, etc.

Then, my family started doing cross country road trips in the summer time. Usually 2+ weeks. This year we did over 5,200 miles and 17 states. Last year, we did 5,000 miles and 18 states in 18 days.

We've camped with Michigan and Ohio State fans. This summer we stayed on the shores of Lake Michigan in Wisconsin and met hordes of badger fans. We drove by and walked around the Stadium in South Bend. Saw "Touchdown Jesus". We've met Kansas Jayhawks, Oklahoma Sooner and Texas Longhorn fans. Years ago, we were on the Kansas campus for a Texas vs Kansas Baseball game. We slipped into War Memorial Stadium in Larmie, Wy. I've met fans of the Ducks, Stanford, Washington and Washington St. We've talked to fans of every school in the SEC and most of the ACC. So we've literally met fans of programs from coast to coast.

Almost every single person we've spent time hanging our with were solid people. It's honestly changed how I view other teams out there. The Ohio State fans were so generous. Our kids were playing with each other withing 5 mins. We talked football and I even dropped the "Urban liar" line. It was all met with laughs and good hearted ribbing. The Badger fans were also top notch and the campground we stayed in was BEAUTIFUL (and I live in a state that's know for it's natural beauty.) . In fact the only "negative" interaction I had was years ago with a Missouri fan at some truck stop who stated, "I hate Steve Spurrier." Everyone else has been cool people to meet.

So here's what I suggest. Go out and REALLY meet some of the fans of these other schools. It will give you a new perspective on college football and why's it's the greatest sport on the planet.

Honorable Mention - Southern Miss. I don't really hate them, they are just very ignorant of their place in the world. I don't enjoy talking sports with them. Plus, they all have a USM and a (random SEC team) sticker on their cars. WTF? I wouldnt be caught dead with a second team's swag. How lame is that crap? It's like saying, I love USM, but I need a real team to cheer for too!

I know they are few and far between, but they are thick here around Hattiesburg.

1. UF (mainly because roadgator stopped correcting shitty threads with "fishing" posts.

2. Mizzou - damn SJW U

3. LSU - "I hate us sometimes" - BHP

4. Ole Miss - Grew up hating them

5. State - Never liked anything about them.

Hey, to be fair, Mizzou did actually fire her. Then Gonzaga of all places hired her after all that crap.

Hate an entire fanbase? Not many.

I hate a demographic of our fanbase more than I do any others, probably.

1) Neck Alabama fans. You know, the kind you encounter when you have to stop for gas in some shite hole interstate town, and they proceed to tell you about how our new fancy QB Jared Stevens had to leave Baylor because of sexual assault and how Auburn probably going to be on probation by the Clemson game

2) LSU fans. It's this board that did it to me. IRL they're fine. On here they really think people around the country group LSU in with Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, etc.

3) UGA fans. It used to be worse and more hostile, now they just fricking whine about Auburn all the time, despite having our number.

4) Regular Alabama fans. I don't really encounter them much.

5) Arkansas fans. These lovable, delusional cultists - what can you say? While they're absolutely nuts, I wouldn't want to go through football season without them
