Fayeteville is a nice place, but I haven't spent a lot of time there. I actually like Lexington a lot. Keeneland brings it up a lot...

What a random bar to pick to put in there
Maybe they think that since they are all owned by the same people the Dixie Chicken, Dry Bean Saloon, Chicken Oil Co, and Hornbacks are all essentially one giant bar/restaurant chain?

I agree with Oxford and Athens. Auburn is an ok town, nothing to write home about IMO.
Tuscaloosa is undergoing a renaissance type change. It will be almost unrecognizable in a few years. All the area hit by the tornado will build back bigger, better, and nicer. Will look a brand new town. There is also a new amphitheater, river walk, shopping developments, downtown revitalization, etc. There is A LOT of excitement about the future of Tuscaloosa. Mayor Maddox has done an amazing job thus far.

It was terrible about the tornadoes in Tuscaloosa, but I would imagine the town will come back looking greater than ever

As devastating as the tornadoes were, would never want that to happen again, there will be a lot of positive that comes out of it. The newness of businesses and neighborhoods being built in these areas will greatly improve the overall look and feel of the city. There are a lot of businesses and restaurants planning on coming to Tuscaloosa that we did not have pre storm. It will be almost as if it is an entirely new city. The are getting the chance most cities do not, to rebuild again from the ground up the right way this time.

He is anti-anything Oxford/OM. Probably thinks Starksville is the only town that has an area with students on waitlists trying to live there...

what's so great about it
Fayetteville is set up similar to Athens, in that the old part of town with all the bars connects right to campus.
Dickson is a little two-lane strip of old buildings with dozens of bars extending about 5-6 blocks to the east of campus. There's bars there from the 1950s and even one from the 1920s. Kind of like a little Beale. Lots of little bars, good restaurants, and its laid back and cool. Its also kind of cool because the town is set right in the hills, so its very steep and hilly compared to most SEC towns.
Dickson is criss-crossed by the city bike trail, and has bars and restaurants off on side streets, too. A few streets over from that we have a quaint Town Square set up, too.
The town and the University blend together pretty closely, and Fayetteville has always been drinking and party-friendly.
The general area is just good and low crime. The town is very hilly and very tree-covered. Great camping and floating within easy drives in all directions. Big outdoors culture around Fayetteville and the University.
