I really thought this was a troll job at first, but then I realized it’s 2024 & a solid contingent of the population now believe allergies are a conspiracy.

I am sure they will educate us with very reputable sources shortly.

Did you miss this happened in Austin, TX? You will get a medal for throwing dildos there, allergies be damned. If ol’ Gus had left the kid a locker full of dildos, there would also have been a school board meeting. But it would have been one where they discussed renaming the school after him.

VFL by the grace of God Himself. Being born in Alabama was all part of His plan.

PEANUT ALLERGY IS THE SECOND MOST COMMON FOOD ALLERGY IN CHILDREN AND IS ON THE INCREASE. IT OCCURS IN ABOUT 1 IN 50 CHILDREN AND 1 IN 200 ADULTS

I don’t believe these numbers. Based on this thread it seems to be more like 1 in 10.

Does anyone other than me ever wonder why everyone seems to be allergic to everything these days?

Everyone is not allergic to everything. I am not allergic to anything. Some people are allergic to things & you shouldn’t condone or downplay intentionally exposing those people

That’s an act of violence. You can disagree, if it’s goes to court you’ll find out the law has a different opinion. There’s precedent, as they charged minors as criminals for doing almost this same thing with a pineapple like 5 years ago.

I will give a little more background. The high school is Lake Travis HS, where Baker Mayfield played. Coached at one time by Chad Morris, now Hank Carter. The football team has won 6 state championships. But lately this team gets their arses kicked in by rival Westlake (where Drew Brees went) who is now the area team who competes for and has won the state football championship in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Lake Travis hasn’t won a championship since 2016. This peanut incident happened in the middle of the season, I think in Sept or Oct, but by the time it started bubbling up in October, it had to be stopped, not only because of the more difficult part of the schedule, and heading into playoffs (coach didn’t want his star players missing), but there was a controversial school bond up for vote in early Nov. The entire bond was about sports facilities, and it had failed once already. The campaigning for this bond was insane. $143 mill for a new football stadium and other pet projects. They couldn’t have it fail twice so they hushed this with the quickness. Needless to say it passed.

Seems like she's lying. If he was deathly allergic to peanuts, what she is describing would have surely killed him.

Seems like maybe he's not actually deathly allergic?

No one is saying that food allergies aren’t real. Or bad. But some of us are saying that they are overblown by some. We have all met them.

I do know this was a one sided story. I do know that the mother most likely made it sound much worse than it was. And even at that, it doesn’t sound like anything more than bullying. The kids responsible were suspended a couple weeks: Case closed.

But some people apparently think the kids that did it should have their lives ruined.

You will say “but what about the victim?” He got a rash. Wasn’t hospitalized from what I see. Definitely didn’t die. And I promise mom would have made that very obvious if it had happened.

This world is full of way too many more pressing problems to really waste any worry about this. But if you guys want to lynch the kid, then good hunting.

No they weren’t suspended. They got no punishment from the school, they sat out of football for two weeks, one of which was a bye. The other game they missed was a cupcake.

At one of the board meetings, parents from out of the district showed up to have a voice. One woman had just lost her son after a restaurant served him food with peanuts/peanut oil. Her son died. What if that was your kid. Quit being such an arse about this.

So a two week suspension.

I am sorry people die from food allergies. I am sorry people die from a whole laundry list of things.

The bigger concern is why are food allergies such a big deal now days when we had never even heard of such a thing 30 years ago.

As was pointed out in an earlier post, this obviously was not a deadly case. I am sorry my level of outrage is not at an acceptable level. But there are just so many things to be outraged over these days my tank is running dry.

My gut tells me the mom and you are on a crusade here. Good luck.

About 12 or 13 years ago my oldest kid had a classmate who had bad peanut allergy. Had to carry an epipen everywhere during the school day. There was a no peanut rule for the whole class meaning no foods for anyone's lunches with food containing peanuts. I was always kind of annoyed that my wife and I had to be so cautious that year when packing lunch boxes. But, at the Valentines Day Party some mom sent in cookies that she'd put Reeces mini peanut butter cups on top of each cookie. She realized her mistake and pulled off the peanut butter cups off of the cookies and sent the cookies to school anyway without telling anyone about it. The peanut allergy kid ended up going into anaphylactic shock at the school party due that the peanut exposure. Almost died and had to be in icu. I stopped being such a judgemental prick after that.

It’s not like some football players’ peanut butter sandwich was thrown across the locker room and landed on the kid. These perps went out and bought a shitton of peanuts and filled the kid’s locker, only after learning it could kill him. It went much further than a prank.

There are ppl who die from bee stings, would it change your mind if they had filled his locker with bees?

I don’t know the mom, I never attended a board meeting. It was a big deal around here on all the parent fb boards, Nextdoor, local news. I would feel like a failure of a parent if my kid did this to his teammate.

The only positive about captdalton is it’s clear that he will never be able to reproduce apart, at least not without committing a horrific crime which, now that I read his post again, is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Sounds like a real dick...but can he rush the passer without throwing peanuts at him?
