Because of who OSU finishes up with. If OSU wins out, they'll beat 3 straight teams that will likely finished ranked: Penn State, Michigan, and, just guessing, Wisconsin. LSU has Arkansas and A&M coming up, both unranked; they'll get a boost if they beat UGA but will it be enough? I think they'll have to beat UGA convincingly to have a shot at the number 1 seed...
I think the #1 seed is huge this year as that team, as things stand now, will not have to face Clemson in the first round. Not that Clemson can't be beat, it's just I would not want to face a Brent Venables' defense when he has a month to prepare. I'd much rather face perhaps Utah or Oregon in the first round as I think there's a drop-off after the first three...

OU was down 25 points to KSU and was never in the game. USC is about to go through coaching changes. Also, USCe has a tougher schedule than KSU or USC. If USCe had KSU's or USC's schedule, they would be going bowling. On top of that, UGA has more ranked wins that Utah, Oregon, and Clemson combined.
