The 3 permanent and 5 rotating opponents format for conference scheduling has been discussed on here many times, so I decided to try to take a shot at who could be each teams permanent opponents.

I emphasized traditional rivalries but also tried to make it balanced.

Alabama: Auburn, Miss State, UT
Arkansas: Texas A&M, Mizzou, Ole Miss
Auburn: Alabama, Miss State, UGA
Florida: Georgia, LSU, South Carolina
Georgia: Florida, Auburn, South Carolina
Kentucky: Mizzou, UT, Vanderbilt
LSU: Florida, Texas A&M, Ole Miss
Miss State: Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss
Missouri: Arkansas, Texas A&M, Kentucky
Ole Miss: Miss State, Arkansas, LSU
South Carolina: Georgia, Florida, Vanderbilt
Tennessee: Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Alabama
Texas A&M: LSU, Arkansas, Missouri
Vanderbilt: Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina

So, of the Big 6, LSU and UT are the only two who don't always have to play at least two other Big 6.

LSU fans would be happy with this, although would still probably lobby to play zero of the Big 6.

Impressive work you put into this

It does appear to be quite balanced to be honest with you

I don't care for it. UT and LSU with one perm B6, UA, AU, UGA and UF with 2.

If the SEC stays at 8 games, they should drop permanent x-div rivals, otherwise go to 9 games.

Ok I will bite. Who are the Big 6?

Asking because your cocksucking brethren at A&M will be here shortly to point out they finished second in the west last season

I agree that UT comes out ahead here, but they still have to play Alabama every year. I actually think LSU’s is slightly harder than Alabama’s though.

I think Texas A&M will be a better team than UT more often than not moving forward.

Tennessee has had a losing record 6 times in the past decade. Grouping them in with the rest of the big 6 as if they're all equal is laughable

Screw Mizzou. I want to play LSU every year cause their fans are the most fun arg ........... uh discuss football with. Them folks got more passion than Mizzou fans.

Yes that’s fair. I thought Miss State is getting shafted, but I couldn’t think of any other rivals to have y’all play. At one point I had Kentucky instead of Auburn for State, but then Auburn either ended up with a random team like Mizzou or playing 3 Big 6 teams.

South Carolina also gets stuck with Florida and UGA.

I wanted to keep the Arkansas-LSU game because they have played some of my favorite games in the 2000s. But I had to give LSU at least one Big 6 team, so Florida replaced Arkansas on LSU’s list.

The outskirts teams like Mizzou, A&M, and even South Carolina are hard to deal with. Hence why those teams all have some really bad permanents in basketball.

I meant a fair criticism. Not fair scheduling wise. Just for the record.

4-28 vs B6 since 2010.

4-5 vs Vandy, though.

No. Auburn and Georgia have played 123 times. That’s not a series that should just end. Rivalries are the one of it not the greatest part of college football.

You can’t complain about balance and then suggest dropping permanents either because under that format in any given year LSU could draw UGA and Florida while Alabama draws Vanderbilt and Kentucky.

otherwise go to 9 games.

I’d be all for this, but I think the playoff committee has shown that 8 is the best way to go so I don’t see that happening. Of course I don’t see the format in the OP happening either.

I wouldn't be against this as long as we get one of the AL teams each year.
