I'll miss divisions. Should have just moved Auburn and Bama to the East, and move Missouri to the West.

West
LSU
Mississippi State
Ole Miss
aTm
Arkansas
Missouri
Oklahoma
Texas

East
Alabama
Auburn
Georgia
Tennessee
South Carolina
Florida
Vanderbilt
Kentucky

Play 7 division games + 3 rotating cross-division, no permanents.
You would end up playing everyone every two to three years, then switch the host.

Obviously there are many ways to do this. I believe Arkansas should be in the grouping with Ole Miss, LSU and Miss State. Texas A&M should be with their old BIG12 buddies Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.

Either way, just for the sake of tradition or lack thereof, when talking Thanksgiving/Rivalry weekend, OU and MO go together while AR and LSU go together.

They should be NO permanent games. Everyone rotate through everyone else.

GOOD LUCK against this list:

Iron Bowl
3rd Sat. In Oct.
Deep South's Oldest Rivalry
World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party
Egg Bowl
Red River Rivalry
Tenn./Vandy
etc.

As long as you flip the Home team the same year you have 4 or 5 games.

This way you can do
Y1 - 4 H games hosting
Y2 - 5 H games hosting
Y3 - 4 H games visitor
Y4 - 5 H games visitor
(or swap Y's 2 & 3).

I am more of a fan of one permanent rival every year. It would keep the iron bowl going and Tennessee and Bama also. Every other game is rotational

Think about this post.

hint: 1 perm rival SOMEHOW allows Ala. to play Auburn AND Tenn. each year?

Isn't MSU a longtime rival of Alabama?

Therefore filling their list?

Besides, auburn needs to play Bama much more than Bama needs auburn.

Frick the Iron Bowl. Bama shouldn't have to let little sister ride its coat-tails every year.

I like the OP's take with some hesitation. Personal take, is that some programs need certain games to open or retain recruiting areas. USCe needs UGa for this purpose as an example.

&, as a UGA fan, I personally DON'T see the need for SC to be a perm. rival.

Therefore, we go back to the discussion(s) of who should be on your list.

Valid point.

I would prefer Kentucky over SC, but that gaves Kentucky SC twice; so...

You could give Tenn. SC & UGA Kentucky. Nobody else would be changed.

The one thing about this scheduling process that absolutely needs to happen is that every team in the conference plays every other team at least every other year.

I had a plan that kept ALL rivalries at the cost of a full rotation taking 6 years.
FWIW, it also solved the question as to who plays in the SECCG each year.

This puts the SEC @ 10 conf. games.

BUT Game #11:
UGA (GT)
Fl. (FSU)
SC (Clemson)
Kent. (Louisville)

Leaving these 4 schools only 1 slot open on their schedule to play anybody.....the other 12 have 2.

This is all too confusing. The SEC should just dump the Big 12 schools and go back to a 12 team conference.

Alabama fans will tell you that they are because they want to keep MSST. But the order of teams that MSST has played the most is:

1. Ole Miss (120)
2. LSU (117 - LSU’s longest)
3. Alabama (108 - Alabama’s longest)

If/When they get to 9 conference games they need to adopt the flex scheduling model of the Big Ten.

Oklahoma doesn't need 3 permanents, as an outsider S.Car doesn't appear to either.

If they're gonna stick at 8 conference games then I don't understand why pods have been eliminated- it's a much improved model from your last one and solves bulk of rivalry issues.

How does the flex work? If you have less than 3, you just rotate the rest? I could see the benefit there.

3 + 4 + 1? That would be better than 1/7, I agree.

I think they should have just kept divisions at 8 games or gone to a 2/6 or 3/5. The 3/5 actually works really good imo, but none of the 8 game models are perfect.

I like the 3 permanets plus rotatio system

I think it also works find with 8 games

3+(5/12) is not as bad rotation

My top Choices for OU are (in order)
1 Texas
2. Arkansas
3. Missouri
4. Texas AM
5. LSU

All this says is MSU has older rivalries than with Ala..

What does that have to do with the age of Ala.'s 3 oldest?
