I find it hard to believe that Vanderbilt is a top-four seed in the SEC tournament and a consensus top-eight seed for the NCAA's, yet has one player combined on the first and second teams.
Ridiculous.
Ridiculous.

Likewise for Kolby Branch. I’ve got no qualms about him being passed over, just so many good shortstops in this league

Vandy doesn’t really have a superstar this year. They’re just kind of an all around good group of baseball players. They’re not launching missles at a prodigious rate and they’re not an insane pitching staff, they just are really good at getting on base, stressing a defense, and being tough enough on the mound. They’re actually built really well for Hoover and Omaha, just have to get to the latter.

The SS stuff is unfair at times. Guys even just getting to the ball, making unbelievable throws, and sometimes getting an error for failing to be spectacular.

Are they holding that meeting at the local YMCA?

I know he absolutely fricked Texas up 10 ways to Sunday but that's a pretty meh stat line to be first team all-SEC

Yes, money is tight these days.

This has gotta be the first time since we joined the SEC that none of our baseball players made any of these lists. How embarassing.

2nd team would beat the 1st team in a best of 7 series

Doesn’t unless the matchups were much easier for your kid; which I doubt

I do think everyday guys should get the nod most of the time but Curiel is a very good outfielder.
Volantis was THE BEST reliever in the SEC. Had Dylan been the second or third best reliever in the SEC, sure but he was THE top guy and a Golden Spikes semifinalist, which Curiel was not.

I’d much rather have Volantis. A true shutdown pitcher in college baseball is very rare. A 1.70 ERA and 11 saves in SEC play is ridiculous, frankly.
Curiel seems like a nice little player for sure but an .810 OPS in SEC play is good but hardly special.
No doubt Volantis was more valuable this year

the "All Defensive Team" is a joke
there's only one on that team who was also 1st Team SEC
the others on the "All Defensive Team" all know the other 1st Team SEC guys are better than them

How can you say that when he avoided the best hitting team in the conference?

Well of course. But so were Anthony Eyanson’s
