Do Ags even want to win today, at this point they're in what, their 4th game?

I'm fine with LSU bailing after 3-4 games. That's a good balance of playing/rest.

Do we want to win? Hell yes!

Do we want to play a 5th and potentially 6th game? Hell no!

We can't do enough to become a host team. It kind of is what it is.

This game is just icing on the cake. Especially since they haven’t played each other since very early in the conference schedule.

The players want to win for pride/bragging rights.

But I have no idea how much, if any, it would impact tourney selection.

What can be done to fix the dgaf about the conference tournament? Start it earlier so there is more rest time?

South Carolina's "projected" host needs to go. We don't deserve it, and I am hoping someone else who has done very well in the last few weeks gets a spot instead.

Not really caring for this whole "injuries" thing as an excuse. Arkansas was just as injured, if not more-so, and they played a lot better for example.

I just don't want to narrative in Columbia to be "well, we hosted, so it was a successful season." While the wheels completely fell off at the end, as usual.

Just checked the new D1 projections that just released and well, we are finally removed from a host. They send us to Boston College's instead. This is more than fair imo!

You'd have to go single elimination throughout IMO

Then you run into a problem of teams not getting enough work in. Plus the double elim after round 1 means teams have a better opportunity to get wins to help the resume.

I said it a bunch over the years. Round Robin pool play isn't sexy, but it's the best format to get work in, not overwork teams, and still be pretty fun.

This could be the format for 2024.

Hoover
Pool 1
1
16
8
9

Pool 2
4
13
5
12

Birmingham or Memphis or Sugar Land or Louisville or Jacksonville, etc.
Pool 3
2
15
7
10

Pool 4
3
14
6
11

Each team plays 3 games vs its own pool. The team with the best record advanced from pool play. Tiebreaker is 1 H2H, 2 Seed. From there it's a 4 team single elimination finals.

8 games on Tue, Wed, Thur
Make Up from Rain / Travel / Rest on Friday
2 games on Sat
1 game on Sun

12 teams play 3 games
2 teams play 4 games
2 teams play 5 games

No one is over worked.
Everyone gets to participate.
Everyone gets a minimum of 3 games to get guys work and get off the bubble / move from 3 to 2 seed / move from 2 to host.

That's the penalty for losing.
