If the SEC would have swept, people would bitch about it only happening because of all the home field advantage we have, so probably best to drop one.

The thing is, the SEC is the most dominant in sports. Participation trophies to be "fair" for teams that are RPI 120+ in a field of 64 just to "do the right thing" isn't my cup of tea.

The last major upset out of the SEC I can think of was Coastal winning (from the sun belt conference) and tbh, there are some good teams in that conference.

If a team is good enough and deserves it, they'll beat an SEC host.

Are you guys hearing the announcers bitching the SEC didn’t deserve to host 8?

While I had agreed we probably should not have hosted before last night,

South Carolina game's announcer had the same idea about Campbell hosting over us.

While he was watching a bloodbath of 19 (which should have been way more runs) and throwing a 1 hitter and knowing Campbell lost 5-1...

Little did he know, that we basically sold out the stadium last night and we have a nice venue (which worked into our favor) and today's games are going to be even more packed.
SC does not deserve a host spot. We will be eliminated quickly anyways.

Kingston is basically begging the ncaa to let us host to save his job

Just checked the new D1 projections that just released and well, we are finally removed from a host. They send us to Boston College's instead. This is more than fair imo!
South Carolina's "projected" host needs to go. We don't deserve it, and I am hoping someone else who has done very well in the last few weeks gets a spot instead.

Not really caring for this whole "injuries" thing as an excuse. Arkansas was just as injured, if not more-so, and they played a lot better for example.

I just don't want to narrative in Columbia to be "well, we hosted, so it was a successful season." While the wheels completely fell off at the end, as usual.
For anyone out in Hoover, how is the rain/field? I see a large batch of precipitation in Eastern AL moving West, but looks like it's trying to dry out as it approaches Hoover.

Edit: Weather modeling dries the whole thing out over the next couple hours; We'll see.
Probably don't deserve it; but I would assume they will take a hard look at how we perform in the tournament and then the Clemson series win could push us in.
Selfishly hoping Carolina can manage a win tomorrow morning so we can finally do this Friday night LSU game over again, to settle the back and forth.

I'd assume LSU would use Skenes at least.

what kind of drainage system do y'all have?

The good drainage used to be bragged about. We got a lot of rain over the Winter, but it's been a good bit more dry since, so not sure what's going on.

I will say the city has massive drainage problems as a whole though.

Yep SC/TN double header cancelled last minute. Only one game tonight at 7 PM.

For Saturday, it is now two 7-inning games.

Have not watched a lot of Softball this season, but on paper, Tennessee is the better team.

TN ERA: 1.53
SC ERA: 2.87

TN AVG: .297
SC AVG: .261

TN HR: 67
SC HR: 41

TN Fielding: .971
SC Fielding: .977

Pitching wise, TN is very good. They have pop in their bats too. I wouldn't expect different from an SEC #1 seed, though.

South Carolina is 9-15 in the SEC to Tennessee's 19-5 :moon:
There are other teams with far more injuries still doing much better than South Carolina. We went from a lock #8 to a possibility of losing #16.

McGillis is the only major player on offense who's out at this point. We do not do enough with the pitches we are given to make it very far in post-season play.

South Carolina just isn't that good. We had an easier schedule early on, and it inflated our record.

People keep saying "injuries"... But Jones's start last night over Sanders was very good, and Noah Hall being out doesn't effect the rest of the "good pitching staff" we were supposed to have.

We have everyone back offensively except McGillis and we still only managed one run last night.
