My thread wasn't a troll. The responses will all be trolls. Nobody can actually answer the question. You have to troll instead. Why? Because you're so shot up with angst over A&M becoming a power program under Jimbo that you can't even have a real conversation about it.

Seems like a normal progression for a 4 year starter. He went from terrible to not terrible. I'm talking about genuine strides... Do you legitimately think you were a contender with Kellen Mond at QB? If so, you are delusional. If not, then my point is made.

We had no shot of beating Bama with Mond. But we could have beaten anyone else in the nation. But when you said that Jimbo hadn't developed a QB, I thought your point was that Jimbo hadn't developed a QB. I didn't know that your point was that Mond wasn't good enough to beat Bama. If that was your point, I guess we agree!

You won the Orange Bowl, brother.

Georgia Tech and West Virginia have also done that since you joined the SEC.

Ah. To be clear, my point is, Jimbo never developed a QB at A&M to put them in a meaningful position to compete.

Or don’t, because this has been the best thread so far today. :lol

I don't know what your definition of "meaningful position to compete" is, but we just finished #4 in the nation with Mond at QB. Normally, the top 4 teams are thought of us teams that meaningfully compete.

Consistent? You were 8-5 last year and LSU beat you by 40 points.

that's it. you got me.

Here is your real conversation...

Jimbo has A&M in a better place than before. They capitalized with a very experienced team this past year. It was a down year for the SEC, but A&M was better at navigating the Covid landscape and put together a very good season. Jimbo deserves a lot of credit for that. It wasn't a given, as most schools struggled in this environment...including my own. I will admit that one big difference for me was seeing a different toughness and nastiness from your defense. I hadn't seen that before from A&M since joining the SEC. That will make a world of difference moving forward to shed the "soft" label they have had.

As far as A&M's program moving forward, jury is still out for me. I have never understood what has led to A&M's mediocrity for so long with so many resources. Will they break out of that and have several successful seasons.... i will believe it when I see it. Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Arky, should all be better next year. They aren't going away. I do believe that this is A&Ms window to jump to the next echelon as a consistent power. It will be very tough to do in the SEC West.

What I mean is that he has now built our program to the point where have become a power program. We're gonna be really good next year, and for the foreseeable future. Since he's been here, we have, each and every year, recruited like a power program, so there's good reason to expect that, in the future, we will be a power program.

I don't mean that we've already demonstrated that consistency. We haven't. But he's only in year 3.

See! Was that so hard?! I agree with everything you said, though you may not appreciate how much A&M is returning next year, and how much Jimbo has transformed the roster.

Really? I mean, it was a great year, can't deny that, but didn't they finish with 5 losses last year and 4 losses the year before? They totally have potential to be a consistent contender, but one year a "consistent power program" does not make

You had a good team this year, yes. That has nothing to do with you being a power program. Texas A&M has been a power program forever because of the money and fan (alumni & student) support you have behind the program.

If you want to be known as a consistent winner you are going to have to build on this season and string a few more together. I think Jimbo has you in a good place, but a mediocre season next year would make this season more of an anomaly.

9 on defense, 6 (maybe 7, probably 6) on offense. We're returning all of our skill players (and getting some major players back from injury) on offense, except Mond. But we're losing 4 OLmen.

that would be huge for y'all. I thought you were losing more than that.

that's tough in the SEC. Just ask us from this past year.

It is. The only question marks on next year's A&M team are at OL and QB. But we have reason to be hopeful at both. In both cases, we're replacing older, experienced players with guys who were higher rated, and with a higher ceiling, but whom haven't proven anything yet.

And, in both case, they will be surrounded with a ton of talent and experience at the other skill spots.
