Not to be a homer, but if they're putting a big NT in this spot Shelvin is easily ahead of Slaton here.

Slaton had two more sacks, 1/2 more TFL, and 1 fewer solo tackle than Shelvin last year.
It seems you are being a homer without really realizing it

Going by raw stats is dumb in different schemes, Shelvin was out there to stop the run and he was among the best in the country at it

Only nine players to play at least 125 snaps against the run at nose tackle had a grade above 80.0, and Shelvin sat at 90.1 — one spot behind leader Aaron Crawford, who graduated from UNC.
So he's the best NT in the country returning this season against the run.

Preseason All American lists aren’t really made by cherry picking PFF data. If they were then Surtain would be a first teamer.

Just using the point the best NT in the conference returning is Shelvin, not Slaton, so if you're going to pigeonhole a NT in there, might as well use the one who was better last year.
Also a grading system is way more relevant than your raw stats arguments.

Meh, I'd rather Justin Fields.

Did he get a waiver to play this year?

What were their overall grades? You just mentioned snaps against the run. That’s cherry picking isn’t it?

Judging by Slaton's 3 QB hurries to Shelvin's 1, it doesnt seem like it would make much of a difference.
Also, Shelvin is the best returning run stopper in the country, and considering that's what he's out there to do, seems like it would probably matter a bit more. No doubt Shelvin isn't worth much against the pass, that's why he gets taken off the field in obvious passing situations most of the time. Doesnt seem like Slaton is doing much better against it though, either.

Najee is going to blow up, George. Something tells me Tiny Nick gets back to rugged football after a year of Bamasoft.

Weird, maybe I only see the negatives for them but Trey Hill and Lecounte don't seem to play like AA players. And I say that with Lecounte being one of my favorite players on the team the last few years.

Shelvin is a first round pick, possibly top 15 tho.
Shelvin is better than Slaton.

Pitts is probably the best TE in the country, absurd to be left off this list.
