I'm talking about overall. Your program sends an excessive amount of dudes to the NFL compared to other schools. Yet you have so few NC's relative to the amount of players that you send to the NFL.

No, they weren't dominant from Day1. They beat Washington State in Lincoln by 14 points. A Wazzou team that finished 3-8 on the season

Yes, that was the closest anyone came to them all year long and that was a trap game because it was known they were supposed to be bad. Funny enough that team was coached by Mike Price.

quote:

The 1994 season has zero input into deciding how good 1995 team was. Judge the 1995 team by 1995.

Sure, but it highlights they were already a good team entering the season.

quote:

The argument, as I understand it, is who is the Greatest TEAM of all time, not who had the best season of all time. You probably know '01 Miami is considered one of the best TEAMS of all time; I think you agree with that.. That team had a 2-point win against VA Tech.in their 2nd to last game.

I've always argued against 01 Miami. All they talk about are individual awards and NFL draft picks for arguments and I think it's stupid. I've never considered them real contenders for the GOAT and I'm glad nobody really talks about them anymore. I easily put 2019 LSU over 2001 Miami.

quote:

It certainly is not a 4-game season, but teams improve (hopefully) as the season progresses. The results of those last 4 games of '19 LSU team, considering the competition they faced and the results (avg margin of victory 30.5 pts), just like 95' Nebraska's last 6 games (avg margin of victory 34.9 pts), weigh very heavily in my opinion, though you might obviously disagree.

Even by this metric 95 Nebraska is better. But I really think it's just cherry picking data.

quote:

I still believe the '71 Huskers. '95 Huskers. '01'Canes, and '19 Tigers were the 4 best TEAMS I have ever seen play.

It's about how much they dominate their competition. 71 Nebraska was often considered the GOAT before 95 Nebraska, but 95 Nebraska easily took that title.

I would say it's more like

1. 95 Nebraska
2. 20 Alabama
3. 19 LSU
4. 71 Nebraska

The reason I put 2019 LSU over 71 Nebraska is because of SoS. That team was honestly more dominate, but they didn't play as many top teams and you really need a top quality SoS to qualify. The top3 have that well over 71 Nebraska.

2001 Miami doesn't have the SoS or the domination. Again, always annoyed the hell out of me.

quote:

Probably the only issue few will argue about is which team had the toughest schedule, which I would give to '19 LSU. They faced 7 Top Ten teams (at game time), including the Preseason Top 4. Their opponents Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, and Oklahoma FINISHED the season with a combined 60-9 record, so excluding the 5 losses to LSU (by an average of 19.6 PPG), their combined record was 60-4.

Game times rankings are bad. Texas was not a top10 team, they were a 8-5 team that finished unranked in the coaches poll and #25 in the AP. Preseason rankings are even worse.

Don't know what significance 60-9/4 is supposed to be. But for 95 Nebraska the opponents were something and 3 not counting the Nebraska loss. So basically, it just highlights that top10 teams usually have between 1 and 2 losses. It's the same stat as before, just different wrapping.

Over the past 25 years, LSU has the second most number of national championships. I’m not sure that qualifies as the worst.

Maybe so…but they’re the only team in history that beat the #2, #3, and #4 teams in the final AP & Coaches Poll. They also won two #1 vs #2 matchups in the final three games of the season…

It can arguably be used to determine the best team in a SINGLE SEASON, but anyone who uses this to determine the Greatest of ALL TIME is gaslighting you. And, yes, I have multiple degrees in Mathematics. There is NO metric that can determine which team is the GOAT college football team...and that's why so many fans love to argue about it. The GOAT? '71 Nebraska, '95 Nebraska, '01 Miami, or '19 LSU

Why are you wasting your time on an internet sports forum if you have multiple mathematics degrees?

Yep, really good team. The Oklahoma game was a really big deal.

Alabama got it's arse kicked as the other #2.

2020 Bama should definitely be number one because 2019 LDU needed an uncharacteristically sluggish start by an unpracticed Tua fresh off of tightrope surgery to escape with a narrow 5 point victory.

2020 Bama beats 2019 LDU by 21+.

Damn, copy and paste much?
I guess I shouldn’t expect more from UDA fans.

University of dumbasses was down 20 in the third, the game was never in doubt.

Hate to burst your bubble, but that’s clearly and transparently false; CBS, USA Today, Bill Connelly (SP+), ESPN (FPI), Brad Powers (Vegas Power Ratings), Sports-Reference.com (Simple Rating System metric), and Sagarin’s ranking system all had 2020 Bama rated above 2019 LSU…

That’s an awful lot of nobodies. Perhaps you meant nobody from LSU respects 2020?

How can you be the GOAT if you arguably weren’t even the best team that year?

Because claiming you have multiple degrees in mathematics in an online argument about metrics and stats is basically claiming you can bench 500lbs and have black belts in three different martial arts in an argument about who will win in a fight.

Only Bama fans think this as opposed to the rest of sports nation that knows it’s not a dispute against the GOAT 2019 LSU team.
Bama fans just can stand to see LSU being the GOAT in football. I LOVE IT
