Arkansas, Oregon, and Alabama all finished in the top 5.

West Virginia finished 17th, while UGA finished 19th

If, and thats a big if, Auburn wins out, their comparative schedule/accomplishments would be far greater than what was posted by LSU

I think the case can be made that it's AU's best team overall. 1983 and 2004 were close and similar in many ways (and both played great defense like this team). However, this team smokes 2010 and 2013 on defense. Without Cam, 2010 is a very average team and without Marshall and Mason, 2013 is probably 8-4 or 7-5. Neither team played defense worth a shite.

The 2004 team went 13-0 while we have two losses this year. However, in 2004 we didn't play the #2 team early in the year (Clemson) and didn't beat two #1's. Also, it was pre Saban and Bama was meh. So I think this year is more impressive in some ways than 13-0 in 2004.

So, yeah, this team is looking pretty great (on paper and on the field). This is why AU fans went full on UT-styled lynch mob after the loss to LSU -- we knew Gus was squandering a potentially legendary season.
