Beating two number 1 teams by double digits in two weeks is an unheard of accomplishment. Sure, they choked away a 20 point lead to lsu and lost by 1 possession to the champs at tbeir house, but they have really found their stride in all 3 phases. I dont remember seeing a team this strong with no weaknesses (outside kickoff covereage.)

However, AU could do something special if they keep it rolling.

Our 2004 team was better

Uh. No. Just off the top of my head, 2011 lsu and Alabama would frick up 2017 auburn.

They need an IQ test before allowing people to post on this board.

If Auburn wins out, they’re in the discussion for having done it against the toughest schedule in college football history.
Counts for something, for sure.

No. They are certainly peaking at the right time, but I wouldn't call them the best. We were overrated and so was Alabama. We will have a better idea at the end of the season, but I think there have been better Auburn, LSU, Florida and Georgia teams.
Now, if they continue t dominate everybody they play, we might have to revisit this.

Don't be ridiculous. Everyone knows that the 2004 AU was the GOAT SEC team... followed closely by the 2010 AU team.

but that wasn't the question. The guy asked this question at a time when auburn hasn't won anything more than their division yet.

2 losses negate a lot. They are definitely playing elite football since the LSU game.
Let's see how we finish this season out. It will be one of my favorite teams regardless how they finish. This defense is one of the best and would put them against any for sure.

lulzy.
If a mediocre LSU offense can put up those numbers on Auburn, they aren't even in the Top 5 GOAT teams.

This. We are "hot" right now and playing great, but that could all end Saturday.
If we win out from here through the playoffs, it probably goes down as the best 6 game stretch ever though. #1, #1, #5, then probably a #2, #1 or something like that (with a cupcake thrown in).
