General qwesh:

What does Arkansas have coming back and why is LSU being hyped so much? I'm guessing they were young this year?

I think UGA surprises in the east.

We return around 15/22 starters. We lose the three first rounders, but one didn't even play tonight. Kelly returns, just depends on the O-line.

Vengeance answered a page ago:

1. how good is Austin Allen / Ricky Town for Arkansas. If either are legit, Arkansas will be in the running for the SEC West because we aren't losing shite on defense. We could just as well be last if we don't have a QB. But overall we lose.. Sabastian, probalby kirkland to the NFL, probably collins, Brandon Allen, Mitch Smothers, Winston on defense and Gaines in the secondary, and that's the entire 2 deep for offense and defense. Austin Allen will be a 4th year Junior not a freshman thrown to the fire

why is LSU being hyped so much

Because 70% of posters on this site are LSU fans? Also LF7. They did just make a good/great hire (time will tell) with Aranda at DC (personally think it's strong). The big question for them is this:
How many underclassmen declare early for the NFL. That has been their Achilles heel IMO.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but to expect a brand new staff to come in and turn the program into world beaters on the back of a freshman QB seems unrealistic. Most UGA fans anticipating 8-9 win regular season probably. Start the season against UNC and then road games early at Mizzou and Ole Miss (though next year seems like the year to play them with that 2013 class outbound after this season). Could easily have 2 losses heading into the UT game. Fortunately get you guys at home this year, but I'd expect UT to be the team to beat in the east for 2016.

Lol no way I would take that vengeance dude's opinion about anything. RB makes them go so that could hurt.

I'm sure LSU could be good...I guess I just don't get the hype although it seems that they hired a very good DC.

9 wins could win the east. We will see, they might not have to be world beaters and the talent is there like always. UT will be the trendy pick, but it could be a crap shoot just like it has been.

Want to wait t see what pieces fall in recruiting and who returns. This is impossible to tell until then. If Bama returns everyone but Lake Robinson Reed and Cyrus Jones, I like us against anyone. If we lose all draft eligible DL then we're fricked.

that's fair, but would typically listen to a fan of a team as to who is anticipated to stay/go.

I'm with you. Ultimately, NFL attrition and can Brandon Harris play QB at a moderate level. Next season for them will likely revolve around how those two things go.

9 wins could win the east

This is true. Assuming the Gus Bus is still on fire, we obviously have a more favorable perma-west matchup. East comes down to this:
UF - Who's playing QB? Can Mac replace talent on the defensive side of the ball?
UT - Put up/Shut up time... No more "youth", team should be set up for success but must put it all together. *VERY* front heavy schedule as well - VaTech probably not great next year, but get UF, UGA, A&M, & Bama all consecutive weeks... can you guys stay healthy through that run?
UGA - Can a freshman QB do enough to keep defenses honest without making big mistakes? Is it possible to change a culture in one year? Can UGA show up to every game prepared and playing at a high level, or is there still a game where guys just seemingly don't show up.

The differences between teams in the same tier are negligible IMO, while the more significant gaps separate tiers.

Tier 1 (assumed SEC champ and CFP participant)
Bama alone at 1. Screw them, but this must be assumed until proven otherwise.

Tier 2 (contenders who could make playoff run)
UT 2
LSU 3
OM 4

Tier 3 (who knows?)
UGA 5
Arky 6
UF 7

Tier 4 (merely ok teams)
Auburn 8
MSU 9
A&M 10

Tier 5 (a bowl would be a great year for them)
Vandy 11
Mizzou 12
UK 13
SC 14

Best I can come up with is we are losing 10 of 22.
Treadwell and Core
3 Olinemen
RNK/Denzel/CJ
Hilton/Elston
We are losing a ton, and we have a bunch of players ready to step into some of those holes. We will still enter this season with quite a few question marks. I think the thing that impacts us the most will be decided by Jan 15th when Swag declares/doesnt declare.
I am not overly concerned with the DL or WR. OL and DBs will be our biggest positions of concern if Swag returns.

How are we higher than Kentucky and Florida?

With a homerun DC hire and an incredible recruiting class coming in, i do. Plus we got bama at home next year

In fairness, I wrote that before I heard the news about Aranda, but I'm not sure it matters.

We get Alabama, LSU and Florida at home next year, but the OP ranked us 8th. Besides, LSU lost 3 of the last 4 against Alabama in Baton Rouge, so I'm not sure how much that matters.

Funny, since Arkansas beat all your Tier 2 teams on the road this year.

I think Tenn pulls it together this year. I'm not ranking the groups in each tier(ie. I/m not saying Arkansas is #3 and Miss is # 5 in the SEC, I'm just saying that those teams will fight it out for being #2 in the SECW)

Tier 1: Bama
Tenn
Tier 2: Arkansas
LSU
Ole Miss
Tier 3: Auburn
MSU
Jawja
Florida

the rest

I think Tenn wins the SECe easily, ending up with 10-11 wins going into bowl season. I only see them losing to Bama and MAYBE Arkansas(Tenn should be favored though)
