great seasons were ruined by the BCS when they started giving out these huge payouts. now unless you're getting millions of dollars to play in a bowl game you're a disappointment. plus the media still only focuses on the sexiest teams with the largest fanbases and most TV pull. one reason why LSU, even after all their success the past decade plus, still don't get the respect or recognition as other programs.

I really don't get the LSU fans being so unhappy with this.. Clemson is a good team and is a lot more appealing than almost all of the other matchups. Not to mention getting to play in a nice stadium in a good city in primetime on New Years Eve.. I think all of you are grossly overestimating your plight.. I mean would you rather go to the citrus bowl against Nebraska?

The Chick-fil-A is a great payout and there are worse places to be on New Year's Eve.

We're unhappy because:

(a) we were one stop/conversion away from playing UGA for the title berth last week, and
(b) we were NIU bullshite lucking into the top-16 away from an LSU/UT Cotton Bowl, which would beat the shite out of this matchup

it's less "baw our bowl sucks" (though it's not really that great anyway) and more "dammit, thisclose."

Spaces between each would be nice. Just a suggestion.

Yeah, it's not like LSU won a title with two losses or anything...

So you're saying a 2 loss team in va tech that lost to LSU should've gotten in? At least LSU won the sec that year and our coach didn't bitch about our entitlement on tv.

Before you make a comeback, you can't use
Butthurt or you mad!

It sucks that the rule is in place to prevent a conference from having more than 2 BCS teams, but I think when your conference champion is playing in title game...another spot should open up.

BTW...we should be no worse than 8-1 in bowls and maybe 9-0 baby.

one benefit to fans about NIU to a BCS bowl allows OU, and not Texas, to play aTm.

On the other hand, a lot of bowls will be very happy to take a top 10 SEC team.
Chick Fil-A bowl is a letdown, but as someone else noted, it IS in an NFL stadium, against a decent team. After the Cap One Mudbowl a couple years ago, I think that's an improvement.

I hope the fans can rally to the team, and lend some energy. I'm afraid of a letdown against a hungry Clemson team.

Perhaps. Not many LSU fans are too thrilled with this bowl or the opponent. But we weren't either when we fell to the Peach in 2006. That team showed up to play against Miami though.
