They did Jarrett Lee wrong. I didn’t think he was that bad and they replaced him with Jordan Jefferson every chance they got. He led y’all to that great start in 2011 and then once Jefferson got back he was kicked to the curb again
Jarrett Lee had three things working against him:
#1 - Pick Sixes. Dude threw INTs, just like any other QB, but for some reason when he did it was always on the out routes where the DBs could take them to the house.
#2 - The 2011 GOTC - Lee was 3-7 with 2 INTs against Alabama's secondary. Jefferson didn't exactly set the world on fire passing either, but his legs kept Alabama guessing (especially after they had game planned against a pocket passer)
#3 - And LSU fans correct me if I'm wrong - but my understanding was that there was some kind of conflict between Miles and Lee.
Lee only threw three picks in all of 2011; two were against Alabama. His first season (2008) is when he threw the vast majority of his INTs.

This LSU team isn’t doing anything any different than OU, and Oregon, etc have done and they all fell short against a truly elite defense and a decent offense. As an OU fan I have to say after all these years defense still wins championships.

2011 team was much better than this team. They got screwed having to play Bama in a rematch. They would have rolled over any team. That was the best defense I have seen with my own eyes in person in the recent years.

2011 by 17 points. Bitter ending but that team was ridiculously talented. Just absurd.

A lot of the 2011 teams were simply on another level.
Hell, with Fisher as coach instead of Sherman, 2011 A&M is 11-1 or 12-0 and either facing LSU for the title or Stanford in the Fiesta Bowl.
People forget how many of the 2012 starters started in 2011:
QB - True, it wasn't Johnny Manziel, but current Titans starter Ryan Tannehill was the starting QB
RB - Christine Michael (with 2,000 yard rusher Cyrus Gray as backup)
WR - Swope and Nwachukwu (Mike Evans was redshirting)
OL - Entire starting OL including Luke Joeckel, Jake Matthews, Patrick Lewis and Cedric Ogbuehi
DL - The 2012 defensive line was without the 2 senior starters it lost from 2011 and Damontre Moore played linebacker
LB - All 2012 starters started in 2011 but in a 3-4
DB - 3/4 2012 starters started in 2011
P - Epperson started in 2011
K - 2011 Groza Award winner Randy Bullock started in 2011

2011 in a close one. They didn’t need to score on offense

It was the team and Miles. We had swapped qb’s so many time that year and they wanted another change at half of the title game, allegedly
Miles was always loyal to JJ and was gun shy of JL cuz of the pick 6’s
I don’t think it would have mattered tho

I don't know. The 2011 offense was fricking awful.

Hard to say! That 2011 D was insane and I am not sure we score enough to get separation
