I didnt think we had a chance until the cfb awards that week (SECCG got pushed back a week bc of 9/11 but the awards show didnt). Phil was there with his players who were up for awards. When Josh Reed won the Biletnikoff they said oh the LSU people aren't here bc they are in BR getting ready for the game, then they cut to Phil in the crowd with a not so bright look on his face. I knew right then we had a shot.

Still remember being at my buddies house and his dad was on the internet trying to figure out how to book a hotel room (remember, this was 2001) in Southern California at halftime. And rightfully so. Tennessee was dominating and LSU had nothing at QB.

And then the QB draws happened...........

Maybe this is one game as to why Bama fans don't hate LSU not nearly to the level as LSU hates Bama.

Saban destroyed UT's program in the 2001 SEC Championship game and Florida's program in the 2009 SEC Championship game.

The only group of Alabama fans that it makes sense to hate LSU are the ones who live on the coast. I really don't know why any other Alabama people would hate LSU. I sure don't.

Woulda given them a much better game than Nebraska.
While not as loaded as UM,UT had 3 of the first 15 picks in the NFL and 9 guys drafted.

D-line was as talented a group as there was in CFB.

Lol I remember Casey Clausen got off the team bus before the game with a rose in his mouth.

My god that VOLS team was so loaded. Maybe more talented top to bottom than the 1998 national championship team

I can't remember another game changing the direction of two programs and two coaches as much as that game.

That's one of the weird things about sports. UT's 1997 and 2001 teams were both better than their 98 team but didn't win it all.

I mean, 2009 Alabama is probably the weakest of all Bama's recent national title teams and they were the only one to actually go undefeated.

Don’t hate Bama either. Most of that crap is from a minority of LSU’s fan base who just so happens to yell the loudest.
But Florida, yeah... the hate is strong with them

i think for most people it's less about hating Bama specifically and more about how everything worked out with Saban + frustration at the rematch + frustration at the endings of the 2008, 2009, 2012, and 2014 games + 2015 Heisman. Thats a lot of shite sandwiches to have to eat from one team and I don't think that should be hard to understand even if you're an Alabama fan if you can take a step back. But I don't hate Bama and actually really enjoy Tuscaloosa. My 2nd favorite trip behind Athens and the good Bama fans are the best and most knowledgeable fans I've ever experienced.
