I'm cool with LSU being party crashers. They have the most fun.

I don't believe that many think they should be great just because of their name, but in this era when most major college games are televised, the elite high school players don't have to attend one of the few "blue blood" programs to get noticed. ESPN highlights will get you noticed. That doesn't mean that the few blue blood programs don't still have some advantage because I think they do, but a good coaching staff or recruiters, who are also good at actual coaching, will trump that blue blood status. Nebraska is just one example of that being the case.

yeah. That's the point. And as I noted, a lot of people will tune in for that.

Then why are teams like Notre Dame and Michigan still considered “Blue Bloods”? They haven’t won shite in forever and both are largely irrelevant programs.

I don’t give a shite what some team did prior to 1980.

Classic Rant response.

Statement one: has nothing whatsoever to do with poster’s favorite team.

Response: uh, well, uh, the team you root for is terrible

because they earned it by winning so many games (Michigan) and so many titles (Notre Dame) over a long long time. And yes, northern, northeastern, and midwest teams did get much favor from the mostly northern, northeast, and midwest media sources back in the day.

I hate Michigan like the next OSU fan but to say they are irrelevant now or that ND is irrelevant now is extremely narrow minded. ND at least was in the playoff last year. They lose and lose big to Tough competition but somebody has to be the lamb to the lion. Same with Missagain. They get devoured by OSU and the better coached teams but they serve a purpose

see. That's actual discussion of college football, but this thread is anchored, for whatever reason, yet trash talk threads rule this entire board.

Lol at LSU. Three NCs....one 61 years ago, one with Bama’s coach and one with two losses 12 years ago. No wonder their fans don’t know how to act. They’re new to this party. Give ‘em a break.
