I can’t believe how many people think that there’s an actual football rule that “the ground can’t cause a fumble.” The actual rule is that it’s not a fumble if a player’s joint touches the ground first. There, no joint of the Arkansas player touched the ground when he was trying to catch his balance, so it was clearly a fumble.
If you want to know an actual game where the refs gifted Tennessee a win that year, look at the pass interference call on 4th down vs Syracuse.

I have noticed that UGA fans are desperate to make 1998 a thing since they are still butthurt about everyone making fun of them for 1980. Hasn’t really caught on yet. We’ll see.

The fact is the vols did NOT make the final 8, but a highly flawed UGA did.
That was one of the awards for winning the SEC.
Why did we advance further? In part because uga destroyed your team, and beat Texas twice.

The point is:
The accomplishment of winning the sec is the goal of every sec program.
It earns respect for most every person who follows football, but also jealously from losers like you.
