Wow, a break through! You are correct for once, the above is all I have been saying on this thread. Other posters agree and even you are now apparently admitting you were wrong last night when you said Birmingham was an overall top 10 culinary destination in the country.

Based on everything I posted with links, where would you put it.
It's probably top 25.

No,no of course not. I probably don't need to be posting since one of my favorite restaurants is Lloyd's.

That’s all I was saying. Birmingham is a great city and beyond the food, as others have pointed out, the music scene is incredible, particularly for its size. My responses here have been mostly motivated by a perverse enjoyment of watching that Irons nitwit twist and deflect when he’s said something that’s clearly and demonstrably false.

No. Actually I prefer my experience not include panhandlers in the parking lot, people soliciting at intersections, homeless soliciting on corners, menacingly being called a racist when not giving a handout in the parking lot after leaving a restaurant, terrible traffic, etc. All typical there.
Fine, you keep your Ham, to each his own. As I said, lived there for decades from birth. Went to school, played ball, worked, and lived in the very neighborhoods mentioned. Could also write a laundry list of crime I personally experienced in those years. I choose not to go back any more due to those reasons, and choose not to support with my money because of the city's politics.

Where would you put them with your Jack's palate? Top 10 OVERALL culinary destinations ? I said that ? I didnt say "The restaurant scene is considered Top 10 in the country."? I think the links I posted would allow that argument to take place with the backing of the Food Network and other outlets.
We are all waiting for your list.

Little Rock is 8th on the overall American culinary list

I agree I don't care for that either. But you said:

Right now we live 20 miles outside city limits and we choose to drive twice that far to a couple of other cities for shopping, dining, and entertainment. The suburbs closest to us have deteriorated greatly over the last 10 years by the bleeding over of the Birmingham elements.
which is just a major stretch. Driving 40 miles to shop or eat because you're scared of crime is just absurd. I live single digit miles from downtown and I don't see any of the criminal element you're scared of.

Never eaten in LR. Spent 4 hours in the ER once with the flu while TDY with the Military. Food was the last thing on my mind. The Hospital scared the hell out of me.

Which is it 25 ? What would it take to put them in the Top 10 on your subjective list ? And that difference is extreme by your definition ?

Any list is subjective. But you couldn't even find a subjective list that had them in the top 10.

Little Rock does have some good places to eat. It has a place that serves burgers that are larger than a dinner plate with giant onion rings on top. Forgot the name but it was on man vs. food.

I’ll probably get blasted for this, but I think Bham’s food scene is slightly overrated. Or maybe I’ve set expectations too high, but there are at least a half dozen restaurants people have raved about that I didn’t find all that special. Blueprint On 3rd, Ovenbird, Betola, Little Donkey, Roots & Revelry, Hot & Hot, and a couple more. Helen was great, but I’m not sure where they get off charging what they do. Highlands Bar & Grill and Bottega will always be the standard for me.
There, I said it.

Not wanting to experience the undesirable elements I mentioned is not being "scared". I'm not scared of panhandlers nor the people that accost you trying to instigate confrontation along cultural lines (yes, that happens in Lakeview, Southside, Avondale), just don't want to deal with it. Go ahead and try to use belittling words.
And "Absurd"? When it comes down to it, 40 miles of open pleasant road to a peaceful experience sure beats 20 miles of traffic lights and visual pollution to get the same needs accomplished in a worse environment.

Still not answering my question? Remember, I stated "considered" a top 10>.
Definition of considered is "think carefully about, typically before making a decision". Not that far of a stretch to say that Birmingham could be considered a Top 10 culinary destination based on the subject comments about having the best Restuarant in America. Which in my opinion isn't the best restaurant in Birmingham?
No, you and twatthang were more concerned about the poster than the subject.

I was stuck in a Full Moon line downtown once. Some dude rolled up on a bike and asked me to buy him 2 rib sandwiches. Even the Bham homeless are becoming high maintenance. I told him I would get it for him, but I changed mind quickly after.

No link you posted considered them top 10 in the country though.

Highlands was rated the best restaurant in America, I do not think it is the best in Birmingham. And that is a very high standard to compare against.
