24 playoff schedule released

First round (on-campus)
Friday, Dec. 20, 2024: One game (evening)
Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024: Three games (early afternoon, late afternoon and evening)

Quarterfinals
Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024: Vrbo Fiesta Bowl (evening)
Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025: Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl (early afternoon), Rose Bowl Game (late afternoon) and Allstate Sugar Bowl (evening)

Semifinals
Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025: Capital One Orange Bowl (evening)
Friday, Jan. 10, 2025: Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic (evening)

CFP National Championship game
Monday, Jan. 20, 2025: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta

First round: 4 days before Xmas. ??. Do I buy Xmas presents or just spend on myself. Figure $1500 for two. $400ea for tix. 1100 food and hotel etc 2 nights

Quarter final: this is a fly trip most likely. La, Nola, phoenix, Atlanta ? Anyway an expensive trip over New Year’s Eve. Two tix 600 ea, airfare, hotel 3 nights say $3000 on the cheap

Semi’s : Miami or Dallas week after new years. Traditionally date for natty game now this going to get pricy. $900 ea tix , airfare, hotel 3 nights $3500

Natty: Atlanta. $1500 ea tix. Airfare, hotel etc $4000. $5500

So, for two to go economy class to all games would cost
$14600

How are the Jimmys and Joes gonna afford this? I’ll be watching on big screen at home

how many and which games would you go too? These figures based on two people

This is dumb. It should be on campus until the championship game.

Your average fan is now fricked.

It's even ridiculous to go to home games for a season these days.

I don't see how this is sustainable NIL and the travel/game costs. Since it's new, people will shell out money. But like you said...do you break the bank on first home playoff game or save?

Seems weird to win 2 "bowl" games before playing for the title

I splurged and went to Miami Natty against ND. Spent 4 nights South Beach. Wife had a great time. We lived slightly above our means but what the hell.

There can’t be that many people with the kind of money needed for all games. What will happen is on campus games will be full but I bet most will wait for the natty leaving quarterfinal and semi final games with lots of unsold tixs.

They will probably be filled with people that have no allegiance to either of the schools.

Agreed on that, but they have to throw the legacy bowls a bone I guess. Otherwise they would be more irrelevant than they already are.

We have may good football playoff formats all around us and Div1 is just now pulling their head out of their azz to even try to get it right. All we have to do is copy one of the proven playoff formats out there. Its so insane.

They need to start weekend after Army Navy. Run straight the f thru all on Saturdays.

All on home campuses until a rotating Championship Site game

I knew there was an upside to being a UK football fan. No worries about this. Money stays in the bank.

Remember when exam week and the start of Spring classes was claimed as the limiting factors to playoff?

LOL. It might be a good idea for Bama to slide a few years so the fans can pay off all those credit cards because of all that winning

You obviously don't understand the bowl games and the money involved with them.

On a serious note, the Big Ten and SEC need to come up with a plan for everyone. Think about Disney, Fox etc. if stadium for semi or natty Half full, which it wont’t be, do they care? No. The cameras won’t show the empty seats. What they care about are the tv ratings. So, the powers to be don’t give a dime about us fans and the costs associated with these games. For the tv partners, more games the merrier.

I blame the board of trustees and the BMD’s of each School. They have allowed the rules to get out of control. They are the ones who can fix.

Me, I’m an old retired guy who remembers Chris Schenkel and being excited on Saturday to watch football on ABC even though by todays standards it was a fuzzy tv picture

You know, I know guys who didn’t have a penny to their name go to college and get educated. They made businesses and did very well. This is what college is all about. It should not be about paying spoiled, narcissistic kids hundreds of thousands or even millions to come to your school to play football so the school can make money.

And, while I’m ranting, no coach is worth 10,000,000 per year.
