So you think Miles just came up with 103.5k off the top of his head? Then the General decide "aww frick it...I'll go along with it"?
Quite a stretch

i wouldnt put much stock in what the guy says at a rally, especially about something thats not his expertise.
quote:I'm not saying that it's definitely going to happen, I've just been told that the 103,500 number was the new mark before Miles said it in public and any type of TD posts. One of the times was from the owner of one of the new suites.
i'm not saying he's straight up wrong but yall passing this off like its fact is also misleading.

already the loudest stadium in the country, IMO.

Tennessee's seats are measured at 11.75" as of last season. People just make a big deal about it because we moved decreased them .5" back in the 90's in our race with Michigan - who did it multiple times to stay ahead of Neyland. There's minimal difference - people are just getting bigger and fatter. Lose some weight IMO.
The width of the seats isn't be problem as they are pretty standard - it's IMO that they are too close to the rows in front or behind so you have knees in your back or vice versa if they are tall people.

im not trying to get in miles head, i can only imagine what goes through his head at times. from what i understand the general was just sitting off to the side. he didnt really have a chance to confirm or deny, he just gave a head nod.
you dont think an additional 4k plans would have made it to the paper by now? this story is over a month old now. maybe they were too worried about covering jeremy hill, who knows.

An average of 89,965 fans per game showed up for Vols games this year
Does anyone know if UT reports paid (which includes no-shows) or actual attendance at their games? Most schools report paid attendance these days, but that would be a huge revenue drop for UT if that is their paid attendance.

This. It's also non-trivial to increase the scope of a project after you've secured funding. You would think any increase in costs (which there would undoubtably be by adding another 4k seats to an expansion) would result in the issuing of more bonds and stories in the paper.
ETA: Not saying it's untrue. Just that there's not a lot of hard evidence supporting it. While there's a mountain that says 100k is the mark.

For the 2012 Florida game, 10k people outside the stadium were left out with no ticket. I personally had a heck of a time trying to find tickets that day too. They will come back if UT starts winning. Stadium was always packed from the 90's to 2007.

Pretty sure it's paid attendance - it was a necessary loss of concessions revenue in order to show how much we as fans wanted Dooley out and weren't going to put up with that doucher.

We were trying to wait for the Vol's to win another Natty before we did, but y'all were taking too long....

TN doesn't need a stadium that big...60k is all y'all need. Went to the TN vs LSU game a couple years ago and I couldn't give away a couple extra tickets I had. I just placed them on the ground to see if anybody would pick them up after 30 min of trying to give them away and people would have rather picked up dog shite bare handed then pick up those tickets.

Just messsin' with you Cromp.
I know it was way over capacity for the UF game. Great environment, like the game should be!

Riiiiigggght - because Corndog Valley would be packed to the brim if Derek Dooley was leading your school to the worst 3 years in program history.

a part of it is a dick measuring contest though
Not really. LSU had the largest stadium in the entire South in the mid-1930s before Tulane Stadium eventually outgrew it later in the 1940s. LSU didn't try to keep pace with expansion back then.
Ironically, the LSU-A&M series used to be played at LSU every single year for decades, because Tiger Stadium held tens of thousands more seats than A&M's stadium. Now, Kyle Field is surpassing Tiger Stadium in size.

does this mean the fans will still leave at halftime?

Some will leave for UL Monroe, you know the team we give a check to, who beats other SEC teams to the north of us.
Also, Some fans may leave at halftime the day after Thanksgiving this season from boredom.....

Welll, I don't know about Derek Dooley - you might be right about that. But we STILL sold out SEC and big OOC games during LSU's horrible stretch of 1991-93 under the Curley one.....
BTW, it's DEATH Valley.
Corndog is something an Auburn person copied and pasted off of NEBRASKA, IOWA, AND KANSAS web sites and message boards. It has about as much to do with LSU as losing seasons under Pat Summit.
