I figure we could give everyone a run-down of the best recruits in the state of Alabama since National Signing Day 2014 and the early signing period are approaching fast. A lot has changed since the beginning of this recruiting cycle, a lot. Recruits thought to be Alabama/Auburn leans have ended up going with the opposite. Well, here we go.

1) Marlon Humphrey: Always been an Alabama lean, IMO. Legacy player. Alabama/FSU battle. Give Alabama the advantage because it just seems like a fit. Florida State will continue to battle and tell him what he wants to hear, and as bad as I want him to go to Florida State, Marlon Humphrey chooses Alabama.

2) Racean Thomas: Once thought to be an Alabama lean, Alabama slow played him in favor of Leonard Fournette, which gave Auburn the opportunity to steal him. Word is that Alabama turned up the heat on him recently, but I don't think it will be enough. Do not foresee a flip, but I also would not rule one out if Alabama misses on Leonard Fournette.

3) Tre' Williams: Once thought to be an Alabama lean, Auburn snagged him away. He feels like Auburn is home and has recruited very well for us. Do not foresee a flip in the near future even though Alabama is still recruiting him hard.

4) RaShaan Evans: Once thought to be an Auburn lean, flirted with Georgia for the longest time, and mentioned he wanted to get away from home for college. Since then, Auburn's season has swayed him, and both Auburn and Georgia insiders have Auburn as his #1 school right now. Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, and UCLA fighting for him. He picks Auburn in the end.

5) Ronnie Clark: Once thought to be an Auburn or Clemson lean (even named Auburn a leader during his Junior year), Alabama did well and finally gathered his commitment. Although Auburn is recruiting him hard still, Ronnie Clark is solid to Alabama. Do not foresee a flip.

6) Justin Thornton: Crazy recruiting in the beginning. Former LSU commit that flipped to Auburn. No signs of him wavering, as his teammate is also an Auburn commit, but there are questions around him having the grades to enroll. May have to go the JuCo route.

7) Stephen Roberts: Many thought he would be an Auburn lean due to the proximity of the school, but Stephen Roberts committed to Alabama early in the process. Eventually, he attended every Auburn game possible, and a flip was foreseen by the Alabama staff. Stephen Roberts stated he was going to wait until after the Iron Bowl to flip, but went ahead and got it out of the way. Do not foresee another flip.

8) Shaun Dion Hamilton: Once thought to be an Auburn lean, mainly because of Jeremy Johnson, Shaun Hamilton up and committed to Alabama early in the process. Since then, he has said all of the right things, and seems solid to some. Some are predicting another flip here because he has been in Auburn so much and has bonded with the Auburn players and recruits so well. We will see. 40% chance at a flip here.

9) Josh Casher: Roller coaster ride. Formally committed to Florida State, then flipped to Auburn, then took time off recruitment. Finally, he was passed over by Auburn (why, I don't know), and then finally committed to Alabama. His recruitment appears to be over and I do not foresee another flip.

10) Gavin Bryant: Tennessee commitment. Do not know much more than that.

11) Kamryn Pettway: Formally a Florida State commitment, he flipped to Auburn. Do not foresee a flip here.

12) Jordan Sims: Had a chance to commit to Auburn early in the process, but chose to try to wait on an Alabama offer. Now, it seems that Alabama and Auburn have both passed over him.

13) JaKell Mitchell: Auburn commit

14) De'Shaun Davis: Auburn commit

No chance that happens IMO. UA will roll out the red carpet for him, plus all the negative pub at FSU.

I know UA has recruited harder out of state this year, but AU potentially pulling 9 out of the top 14 isn't something we'll see too often and should help in state moving forward.

Good info, but with Raekwon McMillan seemingly favoring Alabama at the moment I don't think they are going after Williams too hard.

Yeah I think Bama going more National is actually helping Auburn. I think it might actually hurt Bama in the long run. Hard to question Saban on anything though.

15. Roverters Barron
No pic, no info, no leaders, no offers
Crazy, how do we know if he even exists? Why does 247 like him so much? Where am I?

They really don't. They have him at #25, #15 is the composite, but he is listed as the #4 FB. You'd think he'd have an offer though.

It's not as much of a marquee in state yr this yr like next yr will be but I still expect AU to be hella competitive since they really haven't unleashed Dameyune yet

Still got a hunch Bama is gonna be a player for Evans in the end we will see

Early playing time can almost be guaranteed at Auburn at allot of positions, but it can't at Bama. The national reach Bama has hurts us with in state kids, but it helps set up precious pipelines down the road. Auburn flipping Roberts isn't a surprise at all because it was never an if, but a when situation. If SDH and Bessant flip as well and we pick up the Chef, Marlon, Tabor and Carter then I see that as a Bama win on paper in my opinion. Now how they develop is another story.

Why is it always not a good crop instate when AU gets lots of guys? I feel like every year the next class is always gonna be something special and the current is ok. This is a very solid instate crop and AU is benefitting from Bama's national success. Will be interesting to see how it finishes

Why is next year supposed to be so stellar? As it is now, only 5 are in the top 247. There are 10 in this years class. That's the same amount as last year, and more than the year before. It just seems that's the go to line "this is a down year" in the state, when in fact it's as good if not better than most years.

Of course those will more than likely be upgrades, but at least 2 of those will be tough pulls. It will be interesting to see how UA's CB class shakes out.

Yea, but I wish dbs weren't so afraid to play in Saban's system. If we can get Hootie and CJ, then we will have the best two safeties in the nation on the field again. We just need at least one lock down corner, like Marlon. The guy on the other side can be just good, not elite and the defense will be frick sick.

True, mistake on my part.

He was very high on them, IIRC.

I disagree... On paper, this is a very strong class.

We have primarily kept him recruiting a certain portion of the state so far.

They will be, but they need to jump Georgia to contend with Auburn.

To be honest, you never know whats going to happen. In Jan. it gets real funny. Kids start flipping left and right. I just hope we can get another surprise flip like we did last year with Robinson. I know Ju Ju isn't coming, I don't know why some fans still believe.

I think 40% is high for SDH. I think there's too much fan confidence on both sides that he'll flip. I'm not sure even McMillan would shake him.

IMO...

ETA: Ex: Altee Tenpenny's recruitment
