I like his work but I do think he's full of himself.
And with regards to the 30 for 30, I think the reaction to that shows that Ole Miss fans are really fricking sensitive about a lot of things (love y'all but it's true that some of us bitch about anything that isn't overt praise of Ole Miss or Oxford). Seriously, it's not a big deal. Most people don't even remember that documentary because of how "meh" it was.

Doesn't have to pump sunshine.... But he also doesn't have to highlight the dark and gloomy...
There are clearly two sides two every coin/ argument... By not showing both. He is biased....
Like most journalist.. His story was sad about his dad and season tickets... Aside from that frick him... Just an espn journalist with ole miss ties. They call upon when needing ole miss info to fill the air waves...
Ps i woukd have taken his stupid flicking fedora over that god awful white sox ball cap in the grove anytime...flicking fedora

Thanks for the comments.
I thought the 30 for 30 episode was fairly even handed. I mean, if you're doing a story about Meredith in 1962, a lot of bad stuff is going to be mentioned about OM and the State. It's History. I thought he did show that a lot of progress had been made since the 1960s. I'm not from Mississippi so obviously I'm not as sensitive to the issues as those of you who grew up there.
Lot's of eccentric folks tend to live in college towns. He's chosen to live in Oxford, is a season ticket holder and does appear to be a fan of the team and the School. That's got to count for something.

I believe he said also said something akin to being better than a lot of Mississippians because his father was involved with the Democratic Party and he grew up around a bunch of blacks.
I know I read it somewhere but for all I know it was here when someone like HJJ was blowing up about him

WT can't too far from his new cash cow he likes to kick around and then trot out on game weekends as his prize bull.
That doesn't count for much. I agree with everything said about him above, and add that he's also fat and needs to learn how to use a razor.

He's a legit Ole Miss fan. I know that doesn't jive with a lot of y'all, but it's the case.

I'm sure he is. His demeanor and love for fedoras are more aggravating than anything

I agree. He dresses like an a-hole.

He's one of these faux-academic douchers that never got laid and pretends to be something he's not. He wears stupid hats, has a phony genteel deep-south accent and is always looking for a way to expose himself as some eloquent journalist.
He's about 3% sincere

Pretty much all journalists are self aggrandizing

Well to be fair, University of Missouri has a top 5 journalism school.

HA!
I like Neal (and Wright, frick all y'all), but they're both full of themselves.

Neal is biggest douche of all time.

Which I forgive him for because he's a damn good writer. He is good for Ole Miss. The journalism school is blowing up, and while that's mostly due to the work of men like Charles Overby and Curtis Wilkie, Wright Thompson is not a bad person to have around.

I was being facetious.. Neal is extremely full of himself.
He ruins every Rebelgrove podcast cause Chase asks a question and he just starts yelling his opinion back at him for 2 straight minutes.
