If he's going to try to transfer - there's no longer a spring portal so he would have to file a lawsuit to transfer and be eligible anywhere else.

Not worthy of its own thread so throwing it in here - Mike Stoops (Inside LB coach at Kentucky) is joining our staff as a defensive analyst. I assume he wasn't being kept on by the new staff in Lexington (purely a guess though)

Would have been a bit awkward since they fired his brother. Seems like a nice pick up for us.

I mean we kept Tom Luke around after firing Matt. It's not unheard of.

But yeah nice pickup for us - an analyst with a ton of experience is always a good thing.

Kentucky has had some solid defenses recently so I’m not upset

Ole Miss wide receiver Izaiah Hartrup will return in 2026. Granted a 7th year of eligibility by the NCAA.

Mostly played special teams for us last year (punt and kick return). Was a good WR at the FCS level before joining OM last year so may be able to play himself into the rotation

I was told definitively by the absolutely not broken whatsoever LSU fans that the NCAA was going to have their revenge on us with the Trinidad thing.

Giving a guy a 7th year is a strange way to start a revenge tour.

And it seemingly looks like they picked Trinidad to frick around with for… reasons?

Sounds like they are carrying the NFL's water at this point. The NFL has to be concerned when players like the Oregon qb decide to return to college because of the money. Players entering the draft are a lot older now. It is upsetting their minor league system. Trinidad needed to go to the NFL, but they won't care about an undrafted FA.

Tom has been with the program forever. I'm sure that they understood when Matt got the job that the firing thing would likely happen at some point. Most coaches overwhelmingly are fired. Plus, they paid Matt $6 - 6.5 million to deposit in the bank.

I would love to be a fired football coach.

He'll make more money in 2026 at Ole Miss than he would in three years as a rookie in the NFL. He's also increased his draft stock because he's instantly a Heisman candidate, something he wouldn't have in April. Yeah, the QB pool is shallow this year. It's not getting any deeper next year.

I disagree. While not as good as some years, it will be much better than '26, which sucks. Next year you have Julian Sayin OSU, Dante Moore UO, Arch Manning Tex, Lanorris Sellers USC, and Trinidad. NFL Draft Buzz. I think teams wait to get their next qb and those five go in the first round.

It's nearly impossible to guess this far out. Roll the clock back to August, and all the experts had this as a stacked QB class with 5 QBs projected in the first round:

Mendoza
Sellers
Nussmeier
Clubnik
Mateer

CBS sports even had all 5 of them going in the top 15.
