McCants is a liability in center.
Totally agree with this. He shows no effort in centerfield and can't throw. Twice in game 2 they had a runner score from second on a single to CF because he jogged up to the ball and just kind of tossed it in to the shortstop instead of trying to fire it in to even attempt to get the guy out. Then that sorry attempt to catch that homerun at the wall in game 3...

This is an odd take considering I’ve also seen him make some damned good plays running down fly balls in center.
I can see the argument him being inconsistent....but to say he is a liability that shows zero effort is just saltiness after a bad weekend.

Also Bianco needs to bench Baker and Van Cleve
Ok....then who hits in their place?

Harris at least at the DH.

That home run just showed we have a infielder playing CF. He has the hustle at times but is inexperience’s. He also needs to get more disciplined at the plate. He swings at every first pitch regardless if it is in the strike zone.

Watch the rest of our lineup. The majority of our batters swing at the first pitch. That tells me it’s more of a hitting philosophy from our batting coach and/or Bianco.

I can’t argue this. Would think we would want to be more disciplined at the plate gett8ng opposing pitch counts up and into their bull pens!

Plumlee has a higher BA than both.. and is a + runner and + defender. Put Graham at 1st. Plumlee in center, and McCants at left. DH van cleave if you have to.
My lineup for Friday at State:
SS Gonzalez
2B Chatagnier
1B Graham
C Dunhurst
3B Bench
LF McCants
DH Lefluer or Van Cleave
RF Leatherwood
CF Plumlee

Hell no, this “power hitter” either strikes out or grounds out 99.9% of the time!

Agreed I just struggle to see another bat in the dugout that can take this spot at the moment. If Elko can swing through torn ACL pain and delay the surgery he obviously gets the DH spot. I just don’t think he’s gonna be able to run bases or hit for power effectively thinking about his knee and watching pitches.

Elko can do it. Just brace up the leg and see if he can hit through it. I say he can because I have no ACL in my right knee and it doesn’t limit straight line movement only side to side.

In 95 career at bats as a Rebal, Ben Van Cleve has just six XBH, all of which are doubles.
He ain’t a power hitter. He has also struck out 15.7% of the time this season.

No one strikes out as much as Baker. He has 44 ABs on the year and 22 Ks. He strikes out every other AB.
Other notables:
Plumlee - 10/26 - 38.5%
Chat - 23/82 - 28.1% (surprising)
Bench - 12/123 - 9.6%

Maybe tonight is a sign of him starting to finally come around. 3 RBI double and 3R HR so far.

Won’t believe it until he starts doing it off SEC pitching!

I want to see that freshman Dougherty get a shot in relief on weekends. The same with Brandon Johnson. Wonder what happened with him after he saw meaningful pitching against Texas during week 1.

Crossing my fingers the light is coming on for Baker. Based on his midweek performance you know he will be at 1st all weekend.
