Obviously cant do it this year, but its going to happen in a year or two. With the whole NCAA/crucifixion comment, he cant be gone fast enough for me. I liked him at first, but I can see through most of the smoke and mirrors now. There is no way we dig ourselves out of this rut quickly, and I put most of the blame on him. I just hope we are not in so bad a situation that we cant make a decent hire.

I've always thought his shtick was hokey, but it worked for a time. It's not working anymore and I'm over it. We need a real FB coach that will go in on kids when they frick up and not try to be their buddy.

Who will legitimately come to Ole Miss, who is substantially better than Hugh Freeze?

Look who other SECW programs got when they fired their coach, without having a better replacement lined up:

Ed Orgeron
Houston Nutt
Bert
Butch
Ed Orgeron

Tell me how we are gonna do better than the list above.

Idk if it is him or who he surrounds himself with, but Freeze seems like a good football coach. It sucks for ya'll that you may lose a guy who wants to be there and has some coaching talent

While you have had some excellent top end recruits (e.g Tunsil), it shouldn't be overlooked how Freeze got a ton of production from lower rated guys / Mississippi talent as well

Been a rebel fan for over 30 years and never seen a coach bring in talent like he has. If you fire him who you going to get that can bring in national talent to Ole Miss like Freeze? Nobody. Ole Miss has been a bottom of the barrel school for the last 60+ years. You wanna go back, then get rid of freeze.

We are at the bottom of the barrel in the SEC again with Freeze though?

.... The only reason Freeze may be in a mess is due to alleged recruiting infractions. If true, there clearly is a reason Freezus got the kids to come

Had a bad year because of injuries and lack of a good group of LBs. That is the only gripe with Freeze. I believe he fixed it with the new hires on defense. Everyone has bad years, just look at Auburn lol. They can't even come close to beating Bama anymore. We should have beat them 3 years in a row.

We should be better in the bag Man department since Mcgriff got properly trained at Auburn.

Yeah, you have to be objective here. With the current NCAA situation I don't think you can credit him with the incoming talent.

That being said, he does a good job of realizing what he has and playing to it. A lot of the times that he's been railed for taking absurd chances, they were being taken against better opponents, because he knew he had to go on a limb to win. Sometimes it's worked out, see the Bama games. Sometimes it hasn't, see going for the 4th downs and various other chances he took against State this year, granted the fake punt worked.

The biggest shortcoming has been the focus on recruiting talent rather than positions of need. A 3 star linebacker is more important than a 5 star wide receiver for you guys right now, and to this point he hasn't grabbed hold of that fact. It doesn't matter as much at Alabama when you have 4 and 5 stars everywhere, but when you aren't a top 10 school you have to pick your battles and recruit to your needs.

What about his comment was wrong? I agree with him and Jesus told us that we would be persecuted because he was. It's a very valid and scripture based comment.

We aren't being persecuted because of Christian beliefs, we are being persecuted because we have been paying players out of the wazoo the past 5 years. To compare our NCAA situation with a free of sin Christ being crucified is a major stretch of scripture

I keep hearing this, mostly from the enemy, but where's the proof? Will we ever see it? Or will we just be told it's the case without proof? Paying and paying "out of the wazoo" are two drastically different things.

It does irritate me he made the Christ crucifixion comment and I wish he wouldn't bring Christ into this. Having said that he won the Sugar Bowl last year and until this year has been a stellar recruiter. Anyone can tell that the reason recruiting blows this year is because of the NCAA still hanging around and other coaches are using it against us.

He doesn't need to be fired.

I mean as an atheist (I'm pretty sure I'm one the very few in our entire fanbase ) I hate how much Freeze brings religion into football but from reading that article it sounds like that the NCAA looming over us still is really the main thing that is keeping recruits from coming to Ole Miss, not his weird christian statements.
