It's not that the media won't pick up the story. It will be because no one (readers) will care enough to let it distract them from beach/pool/cookout/etc, and by the time Tuesday rolls around, the media has moved on

and once again....

....who gives a frick what the general public thinks? Their thoughts will not effect the outcome one single bit.

Stop giving a damn about what faceless idiots on message boards think about your school.

If the B-team is covering it, then that's a good thing. That means there really isn't anything at all to worry about. If the NCAA is dropping the hammer on us....they main reporters will be on their computers ASAP.

Agreed.

also.....typically, the better sports reporters work on the weekend because....get this....sports typically happens on the weekends and they get paid to cover sports so......

Yeah, but those are the ones that are actually covering the sporting events that you mentioned above. The ones that would discuss the Ole Miss situation ad nauseam are the Paul Finebaums of the world, the Mike and Mikes, the shows on the Serius XM radio 84 channel, the Around the Horn and Pardon the Interruption type shows. These are the shows I am referencing. The weekend guys are going to be discussing actual sports.

Its not that we care about what dumbasses on the internet think. Most of us just get tired of hearing about our university being drug through the mud on these various shows. That being said, you are right. If it turns out to be major misconduct it will be all over the place no matter what.

As far as the NCAA dropping the hammer.....that is not what this response is about. That is TBD.

The rant will discuss this no matter what. As usual, their responses will mean nothing to me.

t to be argumentative or anything but public opinion/outcry does make a difference in situations like this. you're right that the faceless message board trolls really make no difference themselves, but when enough people are talking about it the the media picks it up more. if they pick it up enough then the ncaa loses face. ncaa loses face enough they will react

Agreed.

Good points. Crazy to think about how societal perspective can change the status quo.

I'm wondering if the delay we're experiencing is really just time to allow the NCAA to consider and then accept our suggested penalties. Because to be honest, I can't think of a legitimate reason to delay this long.

If we announce tomorrow that we have suggested -- and the NCAA has accepted -- 12 scholarships, some reduced recruiting visits, and no post season bans, then this thing falls flatter than a fart in church.

If we pull that off, then the only sound you'll hear this weekend over the crickets, will be the thud of radical ED humpers falling over from heart attacks.

Oh they have already started pushing the story that the "second letter" is coming but it could take 2 years. Because they know that this isn't "it" like they promised but they have to keep the dream alive some how. Anything to keep the dream alive.

They honestly think the NCAA is holding things from 2013 and 2014 recruiting out of this NOA for the next one because they know that rumors about Chris Jones paid for visits and that Bama running back Bo sitting because we aid him just have to be true.

They will go to their graves believing there was a 2nd letter all along. And that we paid off someone to get it buried or something. There's no tinfoil hat theory too extreme for this crew.

You actually have to hand it to Coach34. He has spent three years chumming up this mob of clickbait idiots. And his fansite has exploded. I mean, he must have HUNDREDS of loyal click monkeys by now. His ads could be generating tens of dollars every week.

The man is a mad genius

I think you are painfully missing the point. The "main reporters" are out in the field trying to win a Pulitzer for unearthing sex scandal at Baylor. A mild probationary status for Ole Miss is not going to garner the attention of the general public, i.e. - our future athletes' parents who might be concerned about our current situation.

A press release of a probation for Ole Miss is going to be much better PR for us with the Baylor thing occurring relative to a slow news weekend where this might be more noteworthy.

Our story is no were near as juicy or as important as the Baylor story. People will talk about us and break down the NOA and reply but it in 2 months the NCAA will accept or reject it so with everything else to talk about it won't be that big of a story. Unless something shocking is in the NOA no one saw coming.

lol SDS posted an article specifically about how the media is trashing the timing of the release.

Um, remember when the media just swept Alabama's recruiting scandal under the rug? Or idk everything happening in Knoxville right now.

We just keep fighting the adversity, keep winning and let the haters hate.
