Am I the only one just realizing that this is on our schedule? I doubt Freeze will still be there, but would be pretty damn funny to see him back in the Vaught on the opposing sideline.

I kind of hope he's not there for the sake of avoiding awkwardness. Also, don't want to pull a VT and potentially drop the opener

I hope he's still there and a small part of me hopes he wins so he can get revenge against the prudes who fired him.

But of course I want us to win.

Freeze is never coming back to Ole Miss. Not as our coach anyway. As for the opener next year, I hope we beat the living shite out of Liberty, and then they can win every other game on their schedule.

Well he just signed a contract extension with Liberty through 2026. So he'll be there.

Wouldn't surprise me if he stays at Liberty forever. He will build them up and eventually I think a P-5 conference will invite them to join. Liberty has an arse load of money apparently

I know this sounds like a broken record at this point but I think Ole Miss giving him a second chance would be one of the only jobs he would leave for.

You think a contract extension would stop Freeze from leaving if he received a better offer?

There's no way that contract extension will survive till January for him at the rate he is going. I'm just curious as to which P5 school bites the bullet.... maybe Louisville

If his buyout didn't increase then we know he is gone. There's no way Sexton let him sign a contract with a larger buyout

HUGH FREEZE, WHO has steered Liberty's football team to the best start in program history this season, has agreed to a new deal through 2026, the school announced Wednesday. Financial details were not announced, but sources told ESPN that the deal would place Freeze among the top 5 highest-paid non-Power 5 head coaches in college football -- which would mean his average salary would be $3 million-plus per year. "All aspects of our program are on the rise under Hugh's leadership, and we are putting the infrastructure in place to make this one of the top Group of 5 programs in the country," Liberty athletic director Ian McCaw told ESPN on Wednesday.

And that doesn't include any possible performance incentives. But that also could be inaccurately low considering it's from sources and nothing has been release.

Liberty has plenty of money to throw around and he just made them relevant for the first time in the school's athletic history. I would assume they would try their best to keep him around for a little longer.

But yeah, Liberty can't compete with SEC money for sure. I also agree he won't go just anywhere. I'm curious if he would consider LSU since he originally worked under O at Ole Miss. If they oust O would he be interested in being the heir?

Henry, you and me both. He should have never been fired. Bad thing is, Freeze is TN bound after this season.

Freeze being in the east at USC is probably best case scenario for us (if he has to come back to the SEC). Don’t want him in the west and don’t want him at UT

It's going to suck all of the dicks when he makes it to Atlanta before us.

It would suck even more if we make it the same year and he beats us.

One of those two will happen if he takes the South Carolina job
