Right now, sure. But if he's coming off back to back new year 6 bowl game appearances he suddenly has very good resume. Wouldn't be any different than Herman at Houston, and all the big schools wants him.

Am I missing something about Bryan Harsin? Everyone assumes that he is a slam dunk candidate but I have seen nothing that makes me believe that he is anything but a product of his environment. Everyone is successful at Boise State.

Sell me.

Really it's just been Peterson and Harsin. One can argue that he's simply riding the wave but you've seen other coaches walk into a program thats been riding high for a while and crash quickly, Muschamp at Florida and Strong at Texas come to mind

Maybe I'm crazy but I'm starting to cool a little bit on Norvell. Its becoming clear that we are his plan B or C. If we have any success with him he will jump ship to a bigger program.

Dan Hawkins and Houston Dale Nutt before them were very successful there as well.

Ben Garrett posted that as of now four candidates are in line to receive interviews this week- Norvell, Napier, Will Healy, and Jeff Scott.

I really like Healy but I am very skeptical that a) he is ready for a P5 job and b) that he has the necessary experience in the football world to make credible assistant hires.

Jeff Scott would be a phenomenal recruiter.

I haven’t thought about him before coming across this article, but what is everyone’s opinion of Skip Holtz?

Ole Miss coaching candidates: Mike Norvell, Mike Leach, Skip Holtz lead replacements for Matt Luke

quote:

Skip Holtz, Louisiana Tech coach: Lou's son has carved out quite a career on his own. Holtz has won nine games in four of the last six years at Tech. His quarterbacks have finished in the top four in Conference USA passing in four of the last five years. Check out senior J'Mar Smith, who has thrown for almost 10,000 yards in his career.

If we hire Chad Scott that would be almost as bad as Luke.

We should also stop recruiting 5 star players because they might leave early for the NFL if they are too good.

It’s Tuesday. Luke was let go Sunday night. It hasn’t even been 48 hours yet.

If Norvell is our guy then we won’t know until Sunday. For all we know he’s already agreed to be our HC and they just don’t want to announce until after his conference championship.

What has made it clear that we’re plan B or C? All I’ve seen is tons of unsubstantiated gossip that is clickbait for advertising dollars.

For three years now, I have wanted Norvell. Dude is an incredible coach with a few skeletons in his closet.

If he comes to the SEC watch out. He can recruit and the players love him.

He got ticked that we passed on him last time. I have some good friends in the Memphis Athletic Department. He did give a courtesy interview to us already and it seems as if we have moved on.

So, Good luck. He does want the Fl State job though.

Is there any doubt that Napier is the next HC? Norvell is going to Florida State. Napier will be mediocre to poor and we can all reassess the situation in 2023.

I feel like it's Napier at this point unless FSU says they don't want Norvell. I don't think Napier would be a bad hire though.

Now if we whiff on them both, let's go get Freeze back for his Redemption tour (halfway kidding)

Idk who we'd higher after Norvell honestly that could help. I mean, Macintyre did land Colorado a PAC12 title and had SJSU ranked at one point. Idk

There's no way they retain anyone from there current staff unless the new HC wants them

I'd love to hire Bill Clark or Hugh Freeze.
