So, who does everyone want as the next HC? Rough list below - noting some are more likely to be interested than others.

Defensive coaches:
Jon Sumrall (seems to be the only defense first name)

Offensive coaches:
Rhett Lashley
Jedd Fisch
Lincoln Riley
Kiff Kingsbury
Alex Golesh
Brian Hartline

Outside of Sumrall, that list makes me throw up in my mouth.

I'd be all for Brian hartline if he'd retain some of our current staff. Players love that guy

I really like him. Biggest concern, he's only ever been a coach at Ohio State - so how does his coaching translate elsewhere?

Sumrall is my first choice but I wouldn’t hate a Golesh hire. I think with a bigger NIL and assistant budget he could do well. Almost beat bama last year and beat UF this year.

My one request, grab a fricking hs coach before you deal with sexton again. I'd be fine with Golesh or hartline, but I'm not opposed to going with Joe judge and trying to keep the rest of the staff together. Use a bunch of the saved money to get a ton of support staff. Have one Gm whose sole job is to drive up the price on any player looking at lsu. Maybe we don't get the player, but make sure lsu is having to pay more than they want. Show momma of said recruit any texts you can find from Joey freshwater to college coeds.

His agent was Carter's first call. Don't know after that.

there is nothing good behind door number two.But we’ve been on a roll with the Ole Miss second chance rehab program. See exhibit 1 Kiffin, and exhibit 2 Chris Beard.

Would there be too much pearl clutching to go after Briles?

He hasn't coached at a real program since 2015 - there's a very likely chance the game has passed him by.

There's not really an option like that this cycle.

Given the current state of college football, I would take a serious look at the CEO type model with plenty of money for quality coordinators and just plan on stacking as much talent on the roster as possible through excess NIL from not having to pay the HC $12 mil a year.

It’s really going to come down to who KC has already had contact with over the last few weeks. I love the idea of trying to snag a Lincoln Riley type hire (not him specifically, just an example), but we unfortunately don’t have time for initial coffee dates and feeling each other out. We’re under the gun and have to move too fast to explore much further.

I would never watch another game if we hire Briles. Apart from the whole scandal aspect, he is going to look exactly like Freeze did at Auburn: an old retread who hasn’t had a new idea in 10 years.

Also: he is older than Willie Fritz and y’all yelled at me for suggesting him as an option

ETA: Fritz and Dillingham have both finished their seasons and have NY6/Playoff experience. Make them say no before Tuesday

Keep him. Keep Pete. Keep Joe Judge (by all accounts he's been a hell of a QB coach for Dart and Trinidad).

Figure the rest out as needed.
