quote:feel like the first half defense was an A. Apart from the very last drive where Louisville is in a two minute tempo, we held them to ~40 yards total and had three consecutive drives where Louisville actually lost yards.
1st half defense: B
Otherwise think you’re pretty right, maybe stretch and give the offense a B/B- second half. We only had two drives after halftime that didn’t result in points.

Trying to find actual confirmation, but it seemed like our defense really fell apart when Keaton Thomas (also our green dot) went out injured. He left the field and our back-end organization just fell apart. I think all of those 2nd half busted coverage plays occured when he was off the field

My dude, we pretty much did what we wanted and scored 31 points in the second half without Kewan. I’m giving it an A.

We did not do what we wanted. We only had 1 sustained drive. We couldn't run out the clock when we needed to. Our running game was atrocious. Thank goodness for big plays.

I’m all for holding the team to a high standard, so hell yeah.
I still maintain that having our Heisman-hopeful RB might have helped here. JDB definitely needs to spread Kewan out some. He won’t last long running up the center’s arse every other play.

I think that the game plan just assumed that the strength of our offensive line matched up well enough with the weakness of their interior defensive line, and that we could just drive the field on them between the tackles. In theory, that absolutely should have happened and it’s a little concerning that it did not.
I think their defensive strategy at the beginning of the game was the same as ours in that you sell out completely to stop the run. Our game plan in the second half was very much more balance.

Our running game was atrocious
We were busting off 5 yard gains running up the middle in the fourth quarter with our backup running backs. The problem is our offense relies heavily on tempo and not for slow methodical pacing that runs out the clock. That’s how it’s always been with this type of offense during Kiffin’s era.
The best way for us to run out the clock is to still spread the field laterally with some rollouts and short high percentage passes to complement the run game.

Trinidad did somehting in the second half that no pro or college QB has done in a half in 30+ years. Second half offense was an A

Trinidad was an A in the second half, but I'm sorry guys, I want to see more versatility and control from our offense than we showed even in the 2nd half.

Not having Lacy is why we couldn’t salt away the game. Same reason we blew leads in 2024 without a power back. The backups played well but aren’t bruisers who can run into a 7 man box.

Did we call an outside run that wasn't a triple option play?
