In all honesty, none of us should start a game thread over on the rant all year long. It will be nothing but a troll thread.

Lol at Jordan Wilkins I feel no pity for him anymore.

When you bumble the hand off go to the ground immediately. Staring at the ground
Play Blue rest of game sit him for effort

I'm hoping this game is exactly like the Ohio state, and wisconsins games from earlier this week. Looks threatening at first, but we blow them out in the second half.

Realized I didn't have ESPNU in my package too late and had to watch on a shitty stream. I saw Shawn the Brawn Curtis in there, was he any good?

Not a significant impact but was around some plays...

Zed Woods is seeming like he is turning into the player I thought he would be

AJ Brown is a problem.... for every other team

Honestly, I'm not the biggest conductor on the Matt Luke train, but you have to at least feel good for him because he has to be the happiest man in that entire stadium... I hope he ends up being better than I think he will because I want to see him succeed. He's the type of coach that players can buy into, and he's damn near unimpeachable PR-wise (so we know... see how the last one played out for us)

I like Longo and McGriff... I think they could at least make the conference take a second look at us... our defense needs work though

We look like we did last year basically. Didn't see anything close to the downhill running game that was advertised. Most of our RB carries went for 2 yards off RPOs

I like Matt Luke a lot more after this game. He looked like a head coach, and whether he or his staff, (I credit all the coaches all-around) showed they could make adjustments and approvements at halftime. I also saw his resume for the first time and got a lot of background info on him from the announcers. Honestly, after hearing and watching all this, I feel more confident in him. I think he can be a great head coach.

Luke definitely looked the part as a head coach and didn't even feel the need to preach! Isn't it also nice to sit back and watch a coach take the points early in the game vs going for it on that early 4th and short? Last point, defense definitely needed some work, but loved how they played man and attacked. It was South Alabama, but I feel like we finally have some coaches willing to correct the mistakes we've made over the past few years...repeatedly.

Yeah I saw Shawn the brawn lay one hit on somebody. Looked like just second string getting some PT.

Good to see winters and Coatney Juco guys make some plays.

Also saw Ross Donnelly make a play

Pennamon and Swinney both averaged over 4.5 YPC. That's good to move the chains every time. We will never be Auburn or LSU when it comes to running the ball.

Granted, the balance was still awful. We only got 100 yds rushing as a TEAM.

I couldn't agree more. That offense was a smoke screen. The majority of those plays were from broken down plays. Our offense is essentially run around in space until you get open.

The defense sucked at tackling just like last year. The secondary plays entirely too much man to man and is continually getting moss'd by inferior defenders. We have the most talented OL in OM history and still can run the ball.

I don't understand why DBs in general don't turn their heads and play the ball better. And we are certainly as bad as any at this after one game. It must be a very difficult thing to do indeed.

I hate to agree with Dores, but when he's right he's right.

Shea does not move the pocket and the OL still ain't that great. He is going to get killed.

And why didn't we play his backup?

I sure wanted to see Shea get out of there at least half way through the 4th Q. It was also quite evident our defensive depth is quite lacking. They went through us with ease once we took out several starters. However, I'm of the opinion we can get much better still on defense. No reason to give up yet and think we won't improve at all as the season progresses.

Exactly, let's not forget we've got a new DC and this is the first real game they've played and been able to hit full speed. I'm bullish on our defense and definitely think they'll improve as we get those guys some game time.

The positive: One thing we are forgetting is the starting MLB and DE we're not playing. So we had 2nd stringers in there to start the game and when we had the B team in we really had C team players in that position. The difference is in general we were in the right positions unlike last year.

The Negative: arm tackling, arm tackling and more arm tackling. That won't cut it against a power run team which we will see plenty of. DBs have to get eyes on the ball in the air. Our DL penetrated like Nkemdiche at times past the RB. Gates was getting owned on the edge at times and Bless Polk's Heart!
