No one can get in over the Big 12 champ. The SEC, B1G, ACC, and Big 12 champ receive auto bids. Doesn’t matter if that champ is 8-4, they get in.
Seeds 1-4 are the four highest ranked conference champs. It says nothing about it being the Power 4 (though that being the case every year is the most likely). The 5 highest ranked conference champs are automatically in, with the 4 highest ranked seeded 1-4, regardless of conference affiliation.

What's going to happen if A&M beats Texas?
Posted on 11/17/24 at 8:13 am to rebelrouser
Texas A&M likely steals a playoff spot and that's one less potential spot for us.
ETA: we will know Tuesday whether we want chalk or chaos the rest of the season. If we are at #9 ahead of UGA and Tennessee, we want chalk since we'll be in if we win out. If we are sitting at like #11 behind them, we will need to root for chaos to get in.

FWIW ESPN has us 9th in their projection, with UGA 10 and Tennessee 11. Tennessee would be last out in that scenario.

We need to smash UF in the Swamp, which we are capable of.

If that's how it is Tuesday, we want basically no more upsets as we don't want shite to get too crazy where a bunch of teams behind us win their conference.
Jerry Palm has us as the first team out with both UGA and Tennessee ahead is us. If that's what Tuesday's rankings show we need chaos or we get fricked.

Does anyone have any food and bar recommendations for Gainesville they want to share? Thank ya.

This is the big rankings. If we are ahead of TN or UGA then almost certainly 10-2 gets us in. If TN doesn’t fall below us then we need a lot of help.

A lot hinges on the Tuesday rankings.

CBS is the only one I’ve seen among the reputable outlets that predicts UT over us. Fingers crossed

The Power 4 champs receive auto bids, that is very explicitly stated. That does not mean that the seeding for those 4 champs will be 1-4 though. The highest ranked G5 champ also receives an auto bid and the highest 4 ranked conference champs receive the 1-4 seeding. For example, if Boise and Army win out, Boise will most likely receive the auto bid as the highest ranked G5 champ due to Army’s weaker schedule. The 4 highest ranked conference champs get 1-4 so if Boise is ranked above the Big 12 champ then they would receive a 1-4 spot and bye week and The Big 12 Champ would have to play an extra game. The user I was responding to thought that the Big 12 champ would be left out if they lost enough games and I was attempting to briefly explain that they would not.

Also, what the committee puts out Tuesday will be of no use to us in inferring what their final rankings will be. They make this shite up as they go along and worrying about what they had us ranked last week or this week is a waste of time. See FSU last year as exhibit A. We could be ranked ahead of Georgia/Tennessee/A&M until the very last ranking and they very much can and will boot us in favor of them for whatever bullshite reason they wanna give when the real answer is money. All we can do is destroy Florida and State and hope for the best. Texas beating A&M, Notre Dame losing, and Tennessee dropping one to Vandy would be very helpful.

Except that isn’t true at all. It is what will happen 99% of the time, but it is not written as a rule. Top 5 ranked champs are in. Top 4 ranked champs get a bye. No mention of power 4.

What sane person would put Tennessee ahead of us?
- They lost to two teams we beat
- We beat those two teams by a combined 50 point margin
- They lost later than us
- They were dominated yesterday by a team that we dominated last week
Tennessee should fall to around #15 or so. In all honesty, they should fall below A&M.

I guess I should’ve realized the grown adult fanbase that barks at opposing fans would be legally, mentally retarded but I didn’t quite realize how legitimately brain dead those idiots are. They genuinely believe they’re a better team than the team that beat them by 18 points a week ago.

Either us or Tennessee are very likely to be fricked. Just have to hope it's them rather than us...
Or ND does everyone a solid and drop one to USC

If we handle Florida and State like we should, we will be in.
