Yeah, knock Florida off next week, and it makes UK and LSU seem even more of a fluke. Do it convincingly, and Ole Miss continues to build the perception that they're getting hot at the right time, which is all good I think.

And I really hate the two are playing next week. Glad I'm going to be on a plane and will just have to hear about it later.

I see it as a win win. UGA losing removes them from the equation. Tennessee losing makes our win against UGA look better.

Honestly yeah, just watch & see what happens don't stress about who wins or losses. Regardless of what happens it both helps & hurts us.

Worried a close loss doesn’t drop UT as much as I assumed. Hope I’m wrong

Our win against UGA was far more convincing than what either UT or UGA has put out tonight. Just my biased take.

Yup. There's a good chance Georgia jumps us, but we should be ahead of Tennessee. Our best wins (Georgia, SC) are better than theirs (Alabama, Vandy) and our metrics are better. Plus the UGA results a week apart is too easy a contrast.

UGA top 20 wins: Texas, Tennessee, and Clemson

Ole Miss top 20 wins: UGA, SCar. Honestly, if SCar beat Clemson it might actually make a difference and give us a chance to jump ahead.

UT top 20 wins: Bama

I agree that we should be ahead of them especially if we beat UF and MSU worse than they did, I’m just prepared to be let down.

Edit: also our ranked wins were by 3 scores. UT barely won. UGA all by multiple scores so I do think they jump us despite head to head.

if we had won by a field goal, sure. But a three score loss shouldn’t mean you get to jump the team that beat the shite out of you the very next week. If it does, then wtf is the point in even having the rankings. It’s all a sham

I’m not saying I think it should happen. I’m saying when you have 2 nattys in 3 years then the committee is going to use whatever standard they need to justify a higher ranking.

This is not a simple choice between OM and UGA. If it was, the head to head would make it easy. You have 5 SEC teams with 2 losses and the committee has to try to sort all of them.

The harsh reality is that merit has nothing to do with this. It’s about ratings and out of the 10-2 SEC teams we bring the least eyeballs. This was not the result we needed but maybe Vandy can take Tennessee out of the running for us. The Nightmare scenario now is that A&M beats Texas and we’re in a logjam with 5 other SEC teams that the committee would prefer over us for monetary reasons. If Texas beats A&M and the SEC gets four in, maybe we can get in over Tennessee. We need to skull drag Florida and State.

Down goes BYU. Big 12 is now officially a 1 bid league so that at least helps

That was huge. Everyone should vault
Up a spot in the rankings

It will do the same when Indiana loses at Ohio state next week.

We must take care of business in the swamp

Depends. Indiana OT loss won't do anything for us. Ohio State board racing them by 35 should basically eliminate them from playoff contention

They could lose by 100 and they'll still get a bid if they finish 11-1. They're not going to have 5, 2 loss sec teams get in over a 1 loss big ten team that loses to what will probably be the 1 overall seed.

Indiana’s best win is a 5-4 Michigan team at home by less than 10 points. If they get boat races, the committee isn’t letting them in

Here’s a crazy scenario: Kansas beats colorado, Utah beats Iowa state, Iowa state beats KSU, BYU wins out but loses in the championship to a 3 loss team. Boise wins out, army wins out including wins over ranked notre dame and Tulane. In that scenario, Boise gets a bye, army is in over the big 12 champ, and no notre dame frees up an extra SEC slot.

Other than that chaos, I don’t think the big 12 matters much now that it is a 1 bid league.

No one can get in over the Big 12 champ. The SEC, B1G, ACC, and Big 12 champ receive auto bids. Doesn’t matter if that champ is 8-4, they get in.
