Henry at least be honest about it. We signed one fewer four star and overall average player rating is higher than Auburn. Freeze signed a shitload of three stars. Kiffin isn’t signing guys to sign guys. He’s going to portal hunt.

This is just the early signing period for high school/JUCO. There is still a February signing period for those who choose to wait until then.
Transfers don’t actually sign, they just enroll at whatever school they choose. They can enroll up until whatever date is the last day to drop classes for the spring semester. There will also be a whole new round of people who decide to transfer after spring practices.

It’s an unusual class for sure. It’s the lowest overall ranking we’ve had in a while but the highest average player ranking we have ever had based on the 247 composite (even higher than the Freeze classes). Granted that could change if we add anyone else for the February period.

Kiffin has made it clear for a while now that he only wants HS guys who he feels like can compete by year 2 at the latest. No more Red Shirt Sophomore before cracking the rotation guys. Which I think is in part because they'll transfer well before year 3 if they aren't playing.
So take 10-15 HS guys you really believe in and then fill with 10-15 transfer guys.

Yeah, but most of the top high school prospects signed today. Not many wait until February anymore.
There’s no true period for portal transfers. Pretty sure Dart and Trigg enrolled after classes had already been going for a couple weeks last year.

Today wasn't a "shitty day." Now it would have been had Perkins or Williams slipped away. That's for sure. We just got spoiled all those years ago with that big day Freeze and ESPN treated us to. Today could have been more of a splash if we wanted to go after about 10 more 3-Star guys with about an 86-87 or so rating. Those guys were there. State, for one, took them. We didn't. Is our portal approach gonna work again... we sure gonna find out.

Well if you gonna play games and get a top 10 coaching contract, I am expecting top 10 recruiting/portaling…..so far this day/cycle has been icing on top of the shite sandwich we’ve been served up since the Bama game.

We hired a coach that believes in using the portal more than most coaches so we are going to have to be patient on signing day(s) knowing that the whole class won't be on campus and available to evaluate until transfer deadline to enroll. I seem to recall Lane being a pretty good recruiter at Tennessee and USC so I will withhold judgment on this class.

If it weren’t for the portal Ole Miss would have gone 6-6 last season. I remember this same bitching going on after early signing day last season.
