It’s more about the process than about Boyce. We spend a year conducting another national search and we end up hiring the guy we hired to consult on the search? Because he’s a good ole boy? It’s Matt Luke all over again but much worse bc it effects every aspect of the university not just football.
He may end up being amazing but frick this decision right now.

Is he qualified?
He is a Mississippian. At least there’s that.

That shouldn't even be a factor. This is why Mississippi will never drag itself off the the floor and climb ahead.

He’s not even that. He’s from New York.

Cool your jets, turbo. I was simply stating at least he is a Mississippian. I never said that should be a requirement

Can anyone answer my question as to his qualifications?

Former chairman of the IHL and president of Holmes Community College for about a decade.
By the end of this we might be on Holmes’ level so this should be a seamless transition for him.

You are going to be married. You have the choice to marry whoever you want, and unlimited funds to spend to find her. There are a bevy of good, willing candidates, despite your shortcomings. Many are very attractive, have income potential, and are very well-natured. They are all willing to please you and eager to become your spouse. If the first slate doesn't work out, you can keep looking.
Instead, after a couple of interviews, you go over the fence and hire the average neighbor girl that you've known all your life that has been dating the guy that runs the junkyard. Her only qualification? You've known her all your life.
Congrats. Ya fricked up.

I think Chip Pickering was the first choice but his resume just didn’t add up. He would’ve been a good choice.

Chip would have been Hugh Freeze's first choice.

He’s well known. He’s an Ole Miss Rebel. He’s fairly young. He’s conservative. He knows a lot of people. He will be raising money under Boyce which is the main job for a President. Meaning he’s doing a part of Boyce’s job. He would repair the Ole Miss brand. He’s not a perfect person which kept him from getting the job. Trent Lott’s first choice...
