I’m hearing Pete will be full time head coach, there will be no search for now, and he’s going to do what he can to keep the staff together.

Rebelgator? Quicksilver? Any truth to this?

If the players are willing to rally around him - take the time to do a proper HC search and see how Pete does through the playoffs. Don't want a Matt Luke situation, but if Pete wins a game or two in the playoffs I could be talked into it

Pete Golding and Matt Luke are far from the same situation. One has a resume outside of the program that provides experience to give him the pedigree to be a great head coach.

The other was just a Mississippi man.

Only at ole miss do you have five 10+ win seasons in a row and hire Pete Golding as head coach

I’ve heard the majority of the players hate Kiffin for leaving. I heard Joe Judge will be head coach on the sidelines and Pete Golding still calling the defense in the booth.

Nah. They will want to compete in the playoffs. There is a special window that opens for players after their team is eliminated.

There is also a special window that opens after a new coach is hired. So no rush if they are thinking about leaving.

The biggest difference is we were one of the worst teams in the SEC when we promoted Luke. If you believe promoting from within can keep the majority of a coaching staff and team together for next year you have to do it. We are the last power conference team to basically pick a coach so unless a major surprise happens like a Lincoln Riley we don’t have any other option.

Kirby Smart worked out for Georgia... Could be a good hire or a totally disaster. We're late in the game for a coaching search, thanks to Lane's bullshite.

Pete’s at least been on the inside of both Saban and Kiffin’s process and knows what and how to do it, just a matter of executing. We’ve got the capital and stroke of being in the playoffs to hire him a strong offensive coordinator + staff. What offensive coordinator wouldn’t want a couple million and a shot at a Natty with the talent we have his first week on the job?

I’m grasping at straws to find a silver lining here…someone else chime in to make me feel better, please.

Would not want Lincoln Riley within 2 states of this program.

TBH that's how it is with any hire. It's all just a spin on the roulette wheel
