Here is how I hope it plays out. He announces on Saturday and has a clean and professional transition without it becoming a dick wagging contest of sorts.

I hope he also counsels the players that they need to try, for themselves, to win a title.

Ole Miss announces that they are starting a search and within 48 hours announces Sumrall.

Oh, and I think he is playing LSU like a fiddle and will end up at Florida. There's too much noise around LSU and it's usually the noisy one that loses the battle.

I don’t see how anybody can believe at all he’s at Ole Miss next year after watching that press conference. I think he would’ve already left before the Egg Bowl if the media wouldn’t crucify him for it.

I think he wants to go but wants to coach this season to the end, which cannot happen. I could not see him wanting to leave before the Egg Bowl even if he had a free pass to do so. This is his best season ever as a coach and he wants to finish it. I can sympathize with that. But he's got to understand that the pussy gets shut off when you decide to move on to another girl.

What’s fun is either choice, we have to play him next year. Yay.

I'm 99% sure he'll be coaching his last game as the Ole Miss HC on Friday, and I've been thinking about the whole LSU/Florida situation for him.

Florida has been really quiet throughout this whole thing (although, their fans have been trash on social media), with LSU being the loudest. But, when you compare the two cities:
1. Florida has no state income tax. So, an "even matched" offer still means he'd make more going to Florida.
2. Baton Rouge has a much higher crime rate than Gainesville. If you've got kids, that isn't something you ignore - even if you'd be living in swanky neighborhoods, you still venture out of those neighborhoods.

With Layla being involved, I think we know which one she'd push for (which is kinda weird for an ex to be having that much input, but Lane socially retarded). Add to the whole way LSU has handled the firing of BK and trying to get out of paying him....

Wouldn't shock me to see Lane announce his intention to go to Florida at this point - even though folks are saying Florida is "out" of the race for him.

He’ll probably leave LSU in 5 years but I just hope it’s a more enjoyable 5 years than the shite show we’ve been since 2019

I don't think he's going to LSU. There's too many problems in your program right now. I think he is going to Florida. What I am about to say isn't a bash on LSU. It's just some things that I have picked up.

I think the deal with Florida really was done earlier in the season, which is why he had his hissy fit after the Florida game. That was weird.

There's no doubt that not only has he seen the complete disaster of handling by LSU with the governor being involved but he's also seen how they are trying to screw Kelly out of his buyout. Your Governor called out Sexton very very publicly, so Sexton probably wants to frick him over as well.

But let's dig deeper...

You've also had a very very small crowd the last two weeks of the season and your crowd went completely AWOL in the 3rd quarter against A&M. Compare that to Florida selling out so many games with a losing record. For some reason, he loves that shite.

He also wants to be Spurrier. All that shite that the Florida fans threw out about his father in law, may be true. He and Layla had their first date and they proposed on the 50 yard line or some shite like that. He's also been dealing with Florida a lot longer than he has with LSU so I think there is a lot of recency bias.

No, I think LSU came in to jump the Florida numbers up. That leak of the contract figures by Low wasn't a mistake.

If it's in Oxford, security is gonna be ramped up bigtime.

LSU better be the ones providing that security. If I'm KC I don't do anything different for that game than what I would do for The Citadel.

Another thing of note. LSU's visit was blatant and visible while the visit to Florida wasn't purposely leaked out but got out because Knox ran his mouth to some friends. I also think that Knox wearing the LSU headphones wasn't by mistake. This is all too public. There's going to be a bait and switch. LSU is getting played... big time.

We wouldn't. LSU, however, may pay Mississippi State troopers to supplement the typical Louisiana contingent. Still, I think he goes to Florida, and we play at Florida, not in Oxford.

I’m sorry, but “LSU being the loudest and Florida being the quietest” take is one of the worst takes I’ve read on the boards. Even Rebel Gator is wondering wtf is wrong with Florida fans. They’ve had the zoomies for weeks claiming Lane is a done deal.

Maybe Lane Kiffin doesn’t go to LSU, maybe. But I know this to be true reading the boards this long: Lane has more than given LSU assurances that he’s coming and just wants to finish the season with Ole Miss. if he goes to Florida then it would come as a monumental twist to the LSU side.

We can all just agree to disagree regarding some of the thoughts on the LSU job. I think the resources, trophies, money, and fans speak for itself. I get that tensions are high and if LSU had a coach pulling this I sure as hell would think of every conceivable reason to suggest he isn’t going to an arch rival.

I predict on Saturday he announces he's taken the LSU job and by Sunday he's already put out a whole LSU hype video, drops a LSU version of Come to the Sip merch and has all of our top players unfollowing Ole Miss and following LSU on all socials

It is all through agents because they cannot talk directly to Lane during the season. Who do you think Sexton wants to frick over the most right now? The place where the governor called Sexton out almost by name or the place that has worked well with him over the years. LSU hasn't had a Sexton coach in a long time. Sexton is about to frick y'all.

All of the news stories being pushed out indicate LSU has it in the bag, the money amounts offered from LSU, etc... is what I'm referring to. I'm not talking about how tRantards have been carrying on.

Ahh, I see. I misunderstood what you were saying.

It’ll be interesting to see if we ever find out who is leaking what. One of the reliable LSU guys on On3 said it isn’t LSU leaking those details but we’ll see.

thought it would be a press conference of some kind

If it's an actual press conference, he's staying.

If it's an announcement and releasing a statement, then his office will already be cleaned out by the time it's released.

anything, we need a smaller stadium.

We need to add about 5000 student seats. Because we have more students.

And we need to add about 5000 more seats in suites. Because those actually make money. And suites will look better than that abomination of anm 1974 press box that we have over there.
