If you're optimistic about Luke and this team, you're delusional

bullshite.

Most reasonable people understand why Luke is the head coach at the moment. It’s not like there is some great debate going on.

One can still get excited about a new football season.

I will not be in Memphis. I enjoy catching as much of the opening weekend action as possible in the AC.

Ross was the real jackass and even though Luke is a failure as a coach I still wish him the best and hope his departure is speedy when it is time but now is not the time simply because of optics and recruiting.

When Ross left, my angst toward Luke dropped. I do not think that any AD will keep him, even Carter, if he fails to make a bowl.

Moreso his coordinators. I’d like to see what, happens under their systems. Yes, I will choose to be optimistic about those coordinators and what they can do with our performance on the field.

I thought Neal on the podcast made a great comparison. We shouldn't compare Luke to Cutcliffe but more towards Fulmer and not because they are fat. Phil was the face of the program recruited and hired great coordinators that he let them do their jobs.

The 3 headed coach will not work. It takes a strong HC in the background to make that system work... like Saban at Alabama. Tuberville ran it the same way. He did not really speak in practice, just sat back and watched. If he did talk, it was not usually good. That's the old way of coaching. A "player's coach" was one that would be more engaged. That's the new style. The old style was a CEO type that really managed the coaches and coordinators. Luke is going to get railroaded by his under-coaches because he is not a leader. You can hear it when he talks, what he says, and his actions thus far.

That being said, I really do wish him the best and hope that we win 10 games this year... but I know that is not going to happen.

Freeze was 5-7 his last season and the defense whether he was there or not was going to be worse the next season. Its great to enjoy the success he has but we can't turn a blind eye to the fact HE is the reason we were losing to Bama by 50.

What is the major difference between Hugh Freeze OM stint and Houston Nutt stint? Both had success but at their times at OM no earthly idea how to sustain a winning program.

You can argue the NCAA derailed Freeze. I'd argue Freeze derailed Freeze and provided ammunition for the NCAA.

Your attempts at trying to prove Luke>Freeze or that Freeze was responsible for last years beat down by Bama are laughable. Freeze beat bama and was never blown out like luke even in his first year. Our O w/ studs everywhere scored one freaking touchdown. Luke has our guys believing we can't compete w/ Bama again. He needs to do.

I hope to god we have an actual AD by the end of this season so they can make that decision

Attempt to prove Luke>Freeze? Please show me how you came up with that. I was against the Luke hire from the beginning. Freeze never got blown out by Bama because he was fired prior to having to play with a defense with no freaking talent. A defense that he recruited. He hired McGriff and Longo!

If you believe Hugh Freeze would have this team believing or actually beating Bama this year you're an idiot. Freeze couldn't even redact phone numbers to his freaky shop side entertainment.

Thanks for hijacking the thread, jackass. Why don't you and HJJ just go start a thread specifically for Freeze v. Luke? The rest of us would like to move on and talk football.

Dude, I'm done with Luke more than you are. I just want to talk about something else on this board for once.

So how about the psycho student that murdered his girlfriend, saw Fox News was still broadcasting from the square earlier today.

Or the idiotic students who posed in front of Emmett Till memorial, there I changed the subject for you

We are on an Ole Miss sports board and football season is approaching. It's going to be hard to avoid it

Well, in a few days maybe we can get some practice news not strained through the incredibly pessimistic, eternally morbid viewpoint of you know who in this thread.
