So looks like we're #30 in 247. I know some of those guys won't make it to campus but I think us finishing just a few spots below State with the impending death penalty isn't too shabby.

Late signees could push us into the 20s for sure, which is incredible considering we didn't land any 5*s and only two composite 4*s (assuming Graves is a S&P). Granted, a lot of the kids are rated as 4*s on one service or another, so a lot of these kids are higher end 3*s. Guys like Gray, Sonogo, and Baker would hopefully be good NSD gets any year, and there's probably as good an opportunity as any for these guys to surprise like the 2012 class did (Bo, Core, Mathers & Walton, Elston, Hilton, Gross, Conyers, Ward - all contributors). If the guys we need to pan out develop like Hilton, Core, Gross, etc., this class hopefully will be enough to make the 2016 season an anomaly under Freeze as opposed to the beginning of something bad.

Also, 247 seemingly just bought Scout. Maybe this means Yancy gets better sources, or at least tones down on the blind optimism. Though, part of me thinks one of the reasons people pay for premium boards (from TOS to ED) is for the sunshine and rainbows echo chamber

If Yancy replaces David on 247, I may have to rejoin

Will be interesting to see how that plays out. OM spirit and Rebels 247 both do well from a numbers standpoint. What do they do with the two? Also Chuck, while a self identified homer is probably one of my favorites of the beat guys just because he reminds me of a couple old guys I know from Oxford. lol

I have to be honest, the class we signed today may not be the highest rated or most highly thought of from a purely football standpoint, but the more I read and hear about some of them (some from actual relatives) the more I'm thinking they are among the better group of people we've signed in quite a while. Who knows what that will translate to in terms of wins and losses, but as for me it's much easier to root for quality individuals than it is for suspects. That said, they appear to pretty fair footballers as well.

^^^ Don't really see the connection to Stockholm Syndrome. Possibly something you've cooked up in your own mind. Nonetheless, what did you really expect all things considered? I stand by my previous statement two posts ago. I'm available for consultation with appointment of course. Rates are negotiable. To an extent.

Stockholm syndrome b ing ok with your captors siding with them

Aka my predicament isn't so bad, I understand why I'm being mistreated. It's a necessary evil.

this class would have and should have been so much better. And it exploded.
Freeze said this class was a penalty! It clearly was this class, Will not allow us to compete on anything similar to an even playing field with the sec west.

Tired of people trying to sugar coat the faults and failures here. " oh I'm pleased with this class"

3-4 of our commits were never even on campus, we had to take late flyers and reaches.

We missed out on two Future NFL Tackles
And at least 2 NFL Running backs, freeze said we could have landed other running backs had he not gone all in on cam during his press conference ( ty Chandler)

call a failed class a failed class. Don't try to be politically correct.

I think what you're missing is everyone realizes the class wasn't as good as it could have been. The truth is everyone is aware of what is going on. To piece together a top 30 class with no freaking clue what sanctions are about to come our way is pretty good work by the staff. No one is suggesting that it couldn't have been better. The truth is it could have been worse. Much worse.

A) Melt a little more.

B) Stockholm Syndrome is an incorrect description. The word you were looking for is "denial."

Good character may not typically trump pure talent on the field, but I definitely think we could've used some more character guys in the locker room last season. Especially without knowing what our penalties are (other than the cloud of stigma on the crootin' trail), it was always going to be rough getting top flight talent, so I respect the hell out of the kids who signed with us who had P5 offers elsewhere. Even before the shitstorm really geared up, it was going to be very difficult for Shea to get us to Atlanta. With the dudes we missed on this cycle, it'll be even harder to get there now, but it's still not impossible. Our defense and run game have to improve, just like they needed to this time last year haha. At least we finally went balls deep on LB

I am somewhat optimistic about this class. Based off the past year, we were all expecting crash and burn.

Class isn't great... Its a tipping point. We have a good year and ruling isn't too harsh from NCAA than next years class will be much better. If we stink it up on the field and NCAA lays the pipe than we fukt for a while.

It's not just the ncaa cloud. We had a ton of turnover on the coaching staff. New OC, DC, WR coach, Dline coach, LB coach. All of those spots were filled late in the recruiting cycle. To put this class together, filling needs and finish in the top 30 is a phenomenal job by the staff.

I'd take a one year bowl ban and use it next season (because we're probably at best no more than a 8 win team) and limited scholarships. Some of those have already been self imposed.

It would allow us to recruit for the 18' class essentially with no real restrictions besides being labeled on probation.

I tend to think we'll win 8 or 9 next year. Our offensive line is experienced and has depth, and SheaBae is only going to get better. Don't even get me started on the WRs. We were incredibly young this year across the board.

I see potential wins against:

South Alabama (lol State)
UT-Martin
Cal
Vandy
LSU
Arkansas
Kentucky
ULL
A&M
State

Will we go 10-2? No. Can we win eight of these ten? Absolutely.

As with any Hugh Freeze team, we'll win one we shouldn't, and inexplicably lose one we should win as well.

Also, we return our punter and kicker too. Always a plus having SEC experience in the kicking game. An 8-5 or 9-4 season would be a nice rebound for the Rebs, IMO.
